Is it ok if we drive up there ourselves? Hello harlowo, yes anyone can make their own way there. The ceremony starts at 2pm. If you are making your own way you need to inform the NMA direct as they need to monitor the numbers. Their website is www.thenma.org.uk

It will be in it's proper place.I was thinking a replica could be outside the stadium,or in Coronation Gardens.I will in the long term visit Alrewas and hopefully the Somme.I have watched it on you tube, also the memorial where George Butterworth the composer is remembered.A beautiful place, his own music is being played to the video.George composed the Land of green willows a beautiful piece of music, suitable for any views of our glorious dead.Hard to put into words the loss of our boys at the O's and all others. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.

Brilliant that you are making this happen. You seem to be becoming quite a fan of this Leyton Orient forum, do you also place many comments on the Northampton football club fans forums ?

Brilliant that you are making this happen. It's central to being Leyton Orient. Every one of us knows who were William Jonas, Richard McFadden and George Scott. It's how we relate to being a British football team, not just that but it is in our blood.

Sadly, I am not welcome on "The Hotel End". That forum does not welcome the type of open debate that you have here.
I started posting to help you guys understand what a star you have won with Harry Smith. And, now, I just can't help myself.
(I have always had a soft-spot for Orient. You have always played good football, and that is something which is important for me. Even though you beat NTFC every time I see the teams play).
No probs if I get banned from this site. It is yours, and I'm an interloper.
......
But, to repeat, it is great that you guys are keeping the memory of players who sacrificed their lives.

NTFC have a great memorial to Walter Tull, just off the "Walter Tull" Roundabout, near the away end at Sixfields. (OK, it is a slab in a bit of rough ground - but, when it has been tended to, it tells a story). If you get to the ground early (when you come up), it is well worth a visit. Just for a moment of contemplation. His story should be a the subject of a Hollywood Movie.

Correction..... It is just off the roundabout connecting Walter Tull Way & Edgar Mobbs Way. South of the stadium, over the Pelican Crossing, and in the long grass before you hit the random parking that leads to (what used to be the "South Carpark" and) the Nature Reserve Carpark.

You write good and informative comments and speaking for myself, I can think of no reason at all why you should not keep posting as much as you like on this forum. I am fairly sure that others on this Leyton Orient forum have a similar opinion as i do, you are very welcome fellow football supporter !

You are all sound people. And I really wish you all the very best for this season.

May it continue to be that, the folk who laid down their lives in wars past, did it so that we can all live in peace (aside from the odd ribbing amongst rivals).

In War, the only winners are those who make money from tragedy. Millions of us plebs have died so that a few can get very rich.
So, us little guys.... why don't we just say "NO" to war, and let the rich guys find a way of making more money from something else? (I have a proposal... but, can you stomach it?)

A nice thought indeed. The insane military tactics that were employed in the First World War led to needless mass slaughter on all sides, as the saying goes ''Lions led by Donkeys''

Generals whose strategy mindset had'nt left the days of Waterloo and the Crimea to fight a war, the onset of mechanised warefare and, chemical warfare, with only cloth masks to prevent breathing in mustard gas. It must have been horrendous. We owe so much but people have short memories. The greed and consumerism of today's society. People melting like snowflakes at the thought of wearing a mask to enter public places, anti vaxers who think they are more knowledgeable than Biotech research fellows who have spent years studying various diseases. The mind boggles at their audacity to doubt Scientists who are trying to stem this another virus.

Germany got dragged in to a conflict that they did not start.
