Sun 12th Feb 2023, GLWFL division 1 (North) Leyton Orient 3-1 Tower HamletsDespite a resurgent Tower Hamlets displaying why they have turned their season around to become one of the top sides in the division, the Orient girls proved a bridge too far for them today. The opening goal from Pierce (16mins) was answered by the away side in the 39th minute which meant the sides went into half-time level. If there were ever any lingering thoughts that Tower Hamlets would be anything like the team who lost 8-0 to Leyton Orient on the opening day of the season, their hard fought display meant that such thoughts were to be banished. lt took some stout defending by both sides to keep the scores level but the deadlock was broken in the 78th minute when Pierce hit her second of the game. Orient relied on keeper Durojaiye to keep out a couple of goal-worthy efforts from Tower Hamlets but their fightback was finally killed off by an 88th minute strike by Duffield. Orient remain unbeaten for the season having dropped only one point to 2nd place Brentford who are now 7 points back but have a game in hand. The girls are next back in league action on 26th February against mid-table East London, second placed Brentford will play today's opponents , Tower Hamlets, on the same day. The outcome of that game should say quite a bit about where we are. Pre match interview with LOWFC head coach Danny Martin
Updated scores and league table
Eleisia Williams-Peart served the first of her 3-match suspension today. I don't know how that came about. Thanks for posting this nice to keep in touch with our ladies 👍

I actually find out more info from you than I do from the club Spurs women's team are in the top tier (WSL) and get about 400 people (mums and dads l guess) so there's not much impetus to spend marketing time on our girls playing some 7 leagues below. For now, there's no real sponsorship or placement opportunities available. Maybe in the future eh?

With no League or Cup action on Sunday, the team will travel to West Ham’s Under 18’s in a behind closed doors friendly.

The ladies will play 3rd placed side AFC Leyton tomorrow (26/2) whilst 2nd place Brentford face a resurgent Tower Hamlets who have worked their way up to 4th after a disastrous start to the season. A major day in the battle for promotion. Kick offs at 2pm.

Sorry folks, my hosting service has gone Pete Tong and I've screwed this up. We didn't play AFC Leyton, we played East London. Here are today's results: Brentford 9-0 Tower HamletsEnfield 1-5 Luton TownHackney 1-5 AFC Leyton L Orient 4-1 East LondonThe table looks like this after today's results. L Orient 12 11 1 00 +35 34 Brentford 11 09 0 02 +38 27 AFC Leyton 13 07 2 04 +13 23 East London 13 05 4 04 +05 19 Twr Hamlets 14 06 1 07 -17 19 Luton Town 13 06 0 07 +03 18 Actonians 13 03 4 06 -11 13 Crusaders 08 03 1 04 -03 10 Enfield 14 03 1 10 -31 09 * Hackney 13 01 2 10 -32 04 * So we remain unbeaten and keep our gap over Brentford who clearly had no problem dealing with Tower Hamlets 9-0. Today's team:Copeland scored 1, Pearce got a hat trick

On March 1st, LOFC Women Team Captain Tara Copeland visited Greenleafe school and spoke about her career, the books she enjoys and took part in a education workshop. Pupils received free books as part of World Book Day The girls have another big match this Sunday 5th March at 15:00hrs. AFC Leyton VS Leyton Orient at the BLADES AND SALISBURY HALL PLAYING FIELDS This is another game against a resurgent side who have forged their way up the table recently. Main rivals Brentford have (on paper) a much easier task against bottom club Hackney. A win for LOFC is therefore a must in order to stay clear of the chasing teams.
