Sunday 12th March, Leyton Orient women continue their campaign to be the Division 1 North champions with a home match against Hackney. The match kicks off at 2pm at Buckhurst Hill FC ground on Roding Lane. 2nd place Brentford picked up 3 points from their game in hand to get within 4 points of our girls. If we can win our few remaining games then it doesn't matter even if Brentford beat us in a couple of weeks' time, it is all in our own hands.
The girls will be playing at Brisbane Road on Sunday 26th March against Actonians.

Nigel Travis spoke briefly at the Q&A session about the LOWFC team, he said he hopes that, if we win our current league, we can get more than a one-jump promotion. If we do, it will mean leaving the Greater London Womens' Football league (GLWFL) behind and joining one of the lower/regional divisions of the Football Association Womens' National League (FAWNL), maybe even join the former Leyton Orient club (Now called Seawards of London) in the FAWNL Division One. Frankly I doubt that but I hope NT has a solid case for suggesting it. If it happens, it will be a very different ball game (sorry for the pun) and i wonder if ground sharing at Buckhurst Hill FC will convince the FA to agree to us making such a big jump. We'll see, but let's win the current league first, it's not a walk in the park but we are well placed.
Here's the lower part of the women's football pyramid:
Tier 4
The FA Women’s National League - Division 1 South East, (3 jumps for us)
Tier 5
The FA Women’s National League - Division 2 South East (2 jumps for us)
Tier 6
Premier divisions Greater London (and other) regional leagues (a normal one-jump promotion)
Tier 7
Regional divisions of regional leagues(where we are this season)
There are other leagues below, these are termed "grass roots and youth development"

Fisch the team is on the verge of being invincible!! There is another side who are at the same level, Brentford. We beat them 3-2 earlier in the season with a come-from-behind win and they lost to someone else too. We have to play them again but, even if we lose, they can't overtake us IF we win all the other games. The lower sides have mostly got their acts together and are no longer easy pickings. It's going to be tight.

My daughter has asked to go and watch it so like a good dad, I aim to please! Sorry Thor, I haven't a clue. I know that Spurs are very disappointed in the attendances at Brisbane Road for their women's team, they barely get as many as our girls got the last time they played there. Arsenal get plenty I'm told - doubtless peeing off Spurs that bit more. Rumour is that the Spurs v Arsenal game will be heavily attended. I can't believe the Tottenham Hotspur Women - Supporter FAQs (Brisbane Road) website answers every conceivable question about playing at our ground ... except one! How do you get tickets. *shrugs shoulders in disbelief* Let us know how you get on

On Sunday 26th March, our ladies team get to play at Brisbane Road, I'm sorry but I can't seem to find a kick-off time. The match will be the 14th in a season of 16 games and will be against Actonians. Here's the pre-match table:
Pl Pts 1 Leyton Orient 13 37 2 Brentford 12 30 3 Tower Hamlets 14 22 4 AFC Leyton 13 21 5 East London 13 21 6 Luton Town 13 15 7 Actonians 14 15 8 Hackney 14 4 9 Enfield Town 14 4
Only Brentford can catch us, if they win their remaining 4 games they'll get 42 points. We need 2 wins from the remaining 3 games to reach 43 points. We and Brentford still have to play each other once more and that will likely be a battle royal. Our other two games are against (1) Bottom club Hackney and (2) Actonians. I don't know how this works but Actonians are a very big club and have ladies teams in the GLWFL Premier division plus a senior team playing several tiers higher in the National League South. I assume they are not allowed to throw in players from these senior teams. Doubtless there will be a desire to do so from their senior players who would love to play in a "proper" stadium.
So, a win at Brisbane Road on Sunday against Actonians will leave us needing only to beat lowly Hackney to be crowned champions, even if we do lose to Brentford. A big day for our girls, probably the biggest of their careers. If you are free on Sunday.......

Biggest game of the season... Why the biggest? We have 3 games left and need 6 points to be sure to be champions. One of those games is against a very strong (2nd place) Brentford team, another against strugglers Hackney and this Sunday's game against Actonians. In terms of the teams that Brentford and Actonians can field, both clubs have senior sides in leagues way above our current level. There is nothing to prevent them from bringing in their top players from those higher leagues and thus risk ruining our chances. I wrote to an official of Actonians to ask if they swap players between their three teams, this is the key part of her reply.... We mostly keep the teams separately as we have enough players for each team, we do have players moving in between teams sometimes, perhaps if coming back from injury, or one team is a bit short one week etc. But on the whole, we don't play more than a couple of players from a higher team in any games. We do play against teams that do that though which is incredibly annoying, our 3rd team may play against a team with 5-6 players that normally play 3 divisions higher. In the cups here there are rules against this, teams can only use 2 players from a higher team. In the league there are no rules currently but personally I think that there needs to be, at least at the lowest level as it really changes the results and table which is unfair. So you can see my/our fear, a season of excellent results, P13, W12, D11, L0 can be undone at the final hurdle by opponents shipping in top players. If we get promoted, we all know the team will need to be strengthened to be competitive next season. The game is at Brisbane Road and kicks off at 2 pm. I understand entrance is free.
