I'm not advocating anything and the EFL rules are clear, however, when l watched the Bromley v Wrexham highlights I can't help thinking their playing surface was a lot better than ours was against Col Utd on the same afternoon.

We will be getting a desso pitch next season courtesy of Spurs so will be a hell of a lot better.

Desso is the best surface money can buy The tie up with a top Premier club is the way forward imo takes some of the burden from the owners.

I think under no circumstances is a plastic pitch desirable or acceptable.

I can't stand that silvery reflection from the plastics, and it don't smell of grass.

I can't stand that silvery reflection from the plastics, and it don't smell of grass. I agree but I sometimes wonder if good footballing sides are overly hampered by mud-bath games. People like Smyth, Archibald, Moncur need their ability to change direction and/or accelerate to be able to contribute their best, that's not easy to do on a quagmire. I remember the early plastic pitches at Oldham and QPR, it looked like footballers playing with a balloon on a windy day. Ugh!

I can't stand that silvery reflection from the plastics, and it don't smell of grass. That could change if Khan gets his way and legalises it.

It looks like someone's been smoking our west wing grass. I haven't seen it that bad since probably the 70's.
I don't suppose they want to spend much money on it due to the new pitch next season.
It could be a bit of a leveller until then. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much.

I personally think we made a mistake in relaying the pitch last year. I thought it looked decent by the end of the season and with some added extra measures like seeding I think it would have been great this year. I said at the first game the pitch looked terrible, the north goal mouth I’d be peeed if I asked a kids team to play on such conditions, it’s never been any good all season long in that respect. Maybe someone with more knowledge than me might share it with us on why we did what we did when it was very good last season, just seems odd and wasteful of money as we can now see we’ve added no benefit to the team at all. We do seem to over water it as well, I’m all for a fast and zippy surface, but that west side is holding water which is why it’s cutting up, the lack of light doesn’t help from that stand as well.

Spurs play against arsenal ladies on Saturday 25th March on our pitch and the our ladies play on it the next day in hindsight maybe it’s a misjudgment to let our ladies play on it considering we play at home to Carlisle the following Saturday

Ive been thinking the same, is relaying the pitch every summer really necessary and is this causing the issues. Saying that the only two things I've thought of as why it's necessary is that maybe it's to relevel the pitch (though couldn't they use rollers for that) and to replace the sand to ensure it continues to soak up as much water as possible. As for the West Side, always been an issue since that stand was built and they moved the changing rooms as the area in front of the dugouts gets more footfall than anywhere else, whilst never seeing any sun. Maybe we should install mirrors on top of the east stand to deflect the sun's rays on non-match days. Will be interesting to see if the desso pitch being installed solves the issues.

I saw a recent highlights clip from Newport County's stadium. They seem have laid some kind of synthetic surface surrounding the pitch. I can't find a photo but it's a bright sandy/orange colour, it looks a bit like coconut matting but on a grand scale. It doesn't extend to the playing surface but the heavy use in front of the tunnel, dugouts and the lino running up and down on the same track may go some way to helping the situation.... or not?
