I really didn’t mind which of the two teams went up Intrinsically, l agree but had County succeeded they would probably have outspent everyone else in EFL1, Carlisle can't do that. When l think of the money behind Stockport, Wrexham, Notts Co and Salford ... EFL2 is going to be savage next season, so glad we're not in the middle of that.

I'd like Owen Moxon in our team

We never seem to escape one or both of these two (Carlisle and Hartlepool). Even when we went to the NL Hartlepool followed us.
We got rid of Carlisle once in the 70's but that just ended up in tears at Leyton Station.

Looks like a 19th visit to Carlisle for me next season then 😂 What a job Paul Simpson has done up there. No way of checking of course but you could possibly hold the record for that. You've probably been to Brunton Park more times than some Carlisle fans have. That's a ground I've always wanted to go to, mainly just to say that I've done it. A cold wet evening game in Feb would've been my preference. The furthest I've been to watch an O's match was at Scarborough in the play-offs on a Honda MBX 125. It was hard getting up there but easier on the way back, being downhill. How do you get there, private jet or helicopter?

You rode to Scarborough on a 125cc? That is mental!

I don't mind Carlisle. Their fans like to carry little inflatable sheep for company

Just looked in a programme from 1970 with travel details for Blackburn That was a 7.45 am start for the princely sum of 36 shillings or in decimal terms £1.80

I personally think we'll finish in the top half of league one next season it's a league that's very much two tiered IMO and I think we're capable of getting into top half with the right recruitment there's some very good teams and some exciting games to look forward to but scratch the surface and there are lots of very winnable games too

Can't remember if it was Nigel, Ling or Richie who said it.. but the next goal for us is to break into the top 50 teams.
Or to put it another way, the top 6 in League One.
As mentioned it really is a two-tier League with the top 6 or 8 generally being big big teams.
As for the other 16 teams.. obviously they are all a step up on teams in League Two with the exception of a couple.
I don't think it'll be easy at all. If we finish top half we'd have massively overachieved in our first season back.
Get me to 50 points first.

And I’d be happy with that. The key is obviously who we sign. Would be great to hit the ground running with a squad who know each other supplemented with a few, strong, additions. I think our style of play will fit nicely into league 1 and defensively I think we have enough to cope ok with better quality opponents. Though I doubt we will maintain the level of clean sheets from League 2. The key for me is our strike force. And who we sign to replace Smith and Kelman. One or two out there who score but are getting on a bit. We are in for an interesting few weeks as Richie and Ling finalise the squad.

You rode to Scarborough on a 125cc? That is mental! It done 85 mph, pre restriction bike. The Yorkshire Moors was fun, it felt like I was on an empty race track. I got there hours early so I rode up to the seaside and hung out there for a while.
I can't remember how it came to be but I parked it in some womens front garden, she said she'd keep an eye on it. Obviously well happy on the way back. Twas about a 500 miles round trip, actually more than that as I took the scenic route up there and then tried to find a chip shop. I went to the Isle of Wight once on a fizzy. After that, Scarborough on a 125 was a piece of cake.
