Just to bring a little nostalgia in these dark times. What are your top three pop songs. 1.Unchained melody Righteous Brothers. 2,Bad Moon Rising Credence Clearwater Revival. 3.Positively fourth street Bob Dylan.
Not my only favourites as there are so many, just three I can listen to many times and never tire of listening. If I knew how to use and download a tune onto those gadgets I could play in my new Mazda I would be forever downloading all types, as music in any form is such a great part of my life. The Ash Grove sung by an old Welshman I hear on you tube is amongst my best.I learnt the song in school and the line "the friends of my childhood again are before me" resonates so much.A traditional Welsh song longing for the past as the days are numbered and the future offers nothing. There are many versions of The Ash Grove but this one is the nearest Mrs Amos taught us at Lucton Junior School Borders Lane Loughton Essex in 1954.

Difficult to pick 3 as it can change day to day with my mood. If I’m feeling aggressive and anti establishment I’d put the Sex Pistols on, on another day it could be Carol King or Steeley Dan, but today this would be my choice.
Riot in cell block No9 - Dr Feelgood version. Lee Brilleaux’s vocals are awesome.
Imagine - John Lennon, how the world should be
I’d rather go blind- lots of decent versions, but Christine Perfect tops the list by a long way imo.

I did not care for Amy Winehouse, but recently heard her singing Will You STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW.A regular you tube play now,I have always liked jazz singers,Blossom Dearie and Georgie Fame are liked amongst many. Strange what music of any kind does for a mood.At Whipps Cross Hospital if you have a medical procedure you are asked if you would like a certain piece to be played,I chose the second movement of Beethovens Pathetique piano sonata.I have already chose my music to be euthanised by and it is the prelude to J S Bachs cello suite.

My son performed a solo piano recital at Ilford CHS at the age of 16 when he was a pupil there, to raise money to enable him to study at Junior Guildhall on Saturdays. He closed the first half with the Beethoven Pathetique. 'Twas a balmy June evening in 2002, one that I shall always remember with pride.

I had to look up riot in cell block no9 and YouTube pulled up The Blues Brothers first so I listened to that and remembered the song. I came out of it and the 2nd option was the the one you said, quite different versions.

You are a lucky man,Beethovens Pathetique is pure joy,the second movement so warming and calm.In that movement the genius that is Ludvig van Beethoven is heard in all its supreme achievement.I envy you son for being able to play the piano,I can only play a half decent harmonica.

So many to choose from so my list will change according to mood, but number one will always be there.
1. Sade - Your Love Is King. It melts me every time and the song I want played at my funeral, if only because I like the tune. 2. Donna Summer - Loves Unkind. 3. Queen - Radio Gaga (Live Aid version)
Tempted to put Lana Del Rey ‘Norman flipping Rockwell’ and Kate Bush’s ‘Hounds of Love’ and Swing Out Sister’s ‘Fooled by a Smile’ but that’s for another day.
