So here is my take on our squad and who is and who isn’t cutting the mustard.
My take is based upon whether they would make a top 7 League 1 side, not whether Fleetwood or Cheltenham would be interested.
A way to go Howes Turns Cooper Pegrum Beccles Brown Sweeney Drinan Forde
Nearly there Pigott Ruel Galbraith Agyei Pratley Hunt Happe Archibald Bryn Sanders Moncur
Ready to rock ‘n roll Idris Jordan James

So maybe it is a bit of a clumsy post, but the crux is how many of our players would the better teams in this league want. The top 6-8 teams will break away from the rest and by the end of the season there will be a gap there that we need to bridge, hence my post.

More important to me is not assessing individual players alone but the team. Come the end of the season if we are still in league 1, and I’m thinking we will be, then we are league 1 ready. What we need to do is establish exactly where. Top, middle or bottom to quote the TV programme catch phrase.
I have no great expectations this season other than staying up and allowing the club to build the squad. Some will be invited to go, probably, and we all have our opinions on that. Some may choose to go. Loans will return to their parent club. New players will come in.
RW and his coaches will have a full league 1 season under their belt and be better able to gauge individual players much better. With a good benchmark with teams like Oxford, Wigan and Portsmouth who are clearly ahead of us.
But first things first. 8 without a win in the league is a huge concern. Especially after a run of home games. That needs to get sorted pronto.

Interesting thread. I'm very worried about our team at this moment in time 8 without a win is more than concerning. I'm not sure where the next win is going to come from. We have 21 points, and I believe it will take 50 points to be safe. That means we need 29 points, or 8 wins and 5 draws. Honestly, I can't see us winning 8 games. We find it so hard to score. Any team that scores a single goal against us will probably win or draw, and any team that scores two against us will probably win. We are really short of league 1 standard players. When Jordan Graham got injured, that was the vital moment. If Dan Agyei can get fit, and score a few it will help, but we can't rely on this. We must ditch the dead wood out in order to free up funds, but who is going to want Drinan or Moncur? I'm really not sure if we'll still be in league 1 after this season. If we are, the owners must put their hands in their pockets and bring in a few real quality players, otherwise we will be back in league 2

All teams go through these sequences,we did last season. This League 1 ain't what it used to be some excellent players who just cannot get into Championship teams for money and house full reasons. We do need a bit of luck just as most teams do,seems all our troubles are compounded by our fear of an early League 2 return.

We should not be trusting to luck. We should be trusting in having a solid team and Manager. Luck? Some games we get it, some we don’t.
I’ve been impressed with some of the quality in league 1. I’ve also been surprised at some who seem to devoid of it. I cannot see any reason why we cannot have a reasonable season without constantly looking downwards.
But something has gone wrong.
After the Peterborough game I really felt we had arrived as a competent league 1 team after a shaky start. Started to look good performance wise if still short on goal power. Of late we are going backwards in the main., culminating in Lincoln game which was a shocker in so many ways. The Wigan game a step in the right direction. Let’s hope it marks the start of an improvement trajectory. It needs to be. 8 in the league without a win. That is just not good enough.

An oversight or deliberate? Both Thompson and Beccles were oversights, but I'd put them in the 'way to go' category. I can't see a future for Thompson at the club and it wouldn't surprise me if his contract was paid up in January, both to give him a chance to restart his career and for us to make space in the squad for the future. At his best Thompson was good enough at this level, but injuries stopped him performing to that level. As for Beccles, he's got an uphill task to get a regular starting place I reckon. I was probably a bit harsh on Cooper who frustrated me on Saturday afternoon.

Ok not in any order: Thompson had been a total waste of space..Not because of his football abilities but because of his Injuries. No sooner he better he’s injured again..Collecting wages for being a sick note(not his fault I may add)..None of our forwards will get you promoted, and that’s putting it mildly (although the jury’s out on young Shaq)..and not good enough for league 1 albeit Pigott has been there and done it..Brown is hit and miss.Prats has been there and done it but on his last legs.Theo is ok but has to work on his crosses again hit and miss.El Miz is defo good enough for this division but needs better alongside him.Happe has reached his pinnacle and I don’t know if he can get better ,again maybe with better players around him he can improve.Sol,has his moments but good enough.Cooper, blimey what’s happened in the last week. Here we are one week praising him to the hilt and saying how league 1 ready he was/is and bang!💥 he played as though he was plucked from Hackney Marsh.Omar,Omar god what’s happened?? He got away with loads last season but has been found out this..James,just about cuts it in this league but not a patch on last season.Hunt, what you see is what you get..Not quite there in league 1 but better than league 2..Howes,cut him some slack he is was he is.A raw keeper from non league who’s still learning his trade.Mac Sanders, there set’s definitely a player in there can always improve..Jordan Graham,quality..We can see how much we miss him now he’s he’s not out there.much better player than some think..Dan Agyei looked in his cameo role last Saturday let’s sit and wait to see what happens..George Moncur,I loved George last season but it just hasn’t happened this.I’m still hoping it turns out good for him..Galbraith,still learning but very lightweight at the moment.Ed Turns, see Gailbraith..But get caught out too often..Please feel free to disagree 🙂 All in all we look and play like what we are,A lower league 1 team who has a moment of brilliance.

There are some worries with what is written by some posters, all valid points and I accept what you say however, I counter it with it’s a team game, people are picking out individuals when games are won as units not as individuals. When the club was promoted it was said by RW it will take him three transfer windows to get a team capable of challenging for promotion and as he’s only had one window it’s a bit harsh to be so down on matters.
We will not be relegated I promise you that. I said before the season started I said 8th place and I’ve not seen 7 better teams than us yet, on our day we are as good as anyone, the issue we have is burying our chances as we should and could’ve been 3 up by halftime. Poor finishing is letting us down. We are not as bad a team as some think we are, yes 8 games is a worry and I didn’t even realise that to be honest, the football is not too bad either, but it could be better. But I’m not worried in the slightest, RW will get it right and our forward momentum will continue, give him time and he will get us challenging it may not be this year or next but he will get us there. Rome was not built in a day.
Keep the faith people, we are on a journey and it will have its highs and lows, it’s bumps and kinks, but we are moving forwards.

Fair dos thor but do you still reckon we’ll finish above Stevenage??
