Want an off button? Heading for disappointment. Deal with it or hide from it. The choice we have. That's why I've not been on here for the last two months. I find it quite easy to take it or leave it. Whether that's Orient, work, family, whatever. I get my comfort and balance from many places. If one isn't working I'll move to another. For others they just can't leave it though and need the final word. On the odd occasion mungo the forum throws up a massively important non-Orient related topic. Which is good. This one via the actions of a cricketer. It just goes to show that despite the famous Shankly quote, there are things more important than football and anything that raises awareness, if not agreement, is good. This one, whether about depression, anxiety, negativity (which all too often are linked ) in the workplace had special relevance to us and I will add to our DoF whose actions in this area I have so much respect for. The world we live in gets tougher by the year, these sorts of issues are on the increase. And nobody, and I mean nobody is immune. “Wont happen to me”. It can. Even school children. Awareness can save lives. Complacency can kill. Vigilance is needed. These things crop up without a seconds notice. Job loss, money issues, exam results, s*** boss. The causes go on and on. And please someone have the last word.

The last post (until the next last post 20 mins later).......LOL LOl LOl If only it was the last ............. If only 😄 Some things make me sad. Not angry but sad. this topic is important. It is something that has affected our own. Martin Ling who has been amazing in his honesty and Justin Edinburgh and his association with Dale Robert’s. It takes many forms, not a one size fits all. It’s a wide ranging area, one that affects lives. A subject I only ever became aware of in later life and started to try and understand. I’ve barely scratched the surface. But some stories I find tragic. Information is out there. Personal accounts on YouTube. The majority of us will never experience it personally. But an awareness of the suffering of others does no harm So why am I sad. I see people on this forum who prefer to try and score points rather than grasp the importance of this topic and open their mind to it. Not to agree or disagree with me, that is not important. What is important is awareness.

I hear you Donut. The thing is you have changed the discussion, or at least my point of the discussion, from the benefits of a positive mind set in a competitive situation vs, in my opinion, the destructiveness of negativity in a competitive situation. Widening the discussion to bring in depression isnt the point here. Its important a subject matter to perhaps warrant it owns thread, but it doesnt need to hijack one either.
It started with conversations on threads where I gelt that people, yourself included, seemed to be perpetually negative about the team and it went from there. Depression wasnt part if that discussion then or now.

Depression wasnt part if that discussion then or now. I accept your point of view. It’s different from mine but equally valid. I see depression, negativity, anxiety as all part of the same family. Same for negativity, I see it as perhaps more wide ranging. I also differentiate quite a lot between negativity and reality and appreciate the line between the two is sometimes very thin I equally accept some people in the workplace constantly give off negative vibes for no apparent reason. I will admit to have being hugely judgemental in my past career. All to ready to dismiss individuals as negative a-holes damaging team spirit etc. Experience has shown me to be wrong. Now perhaps I’m more aware that to rush to judgement sometimes has consequences, the impact lasting a lifetime. As for Orient. No rose tinted glasses for me. I call it as I see it, the good and bad. Sure sometimes that makes me seem negative but to my mind it’s realistic. Right now things are poor. Excuses aplenty. I desperately await the next win. I am Orient through and through. My desire for success is the same as everyone. 👍

I am looking forward to 'donut free weeks ' with other posting in a Donut free zone.
Long overdue for a time for football fans to have a donut free time.
Time for Donuts to wind his neck in.
