RW has had his arse kissed since the day he joined and rightly so in an overall sense. However, after the cup exit to a team two leagues below us and this poor run of form, there is unrest amongst the supporters and some are now voicing it directly at RW. We've had substantial injuries that have stifled our campaign which has led to RW stating he can't play the way he wants, but... are we seeing the tweaks each Saturday that leads us to believe RW has a plan B? Was there a change after the sending off.
FWIW, I'm fully behind RW (players/board). And no, I cannot do better than RW but neither am I taking the managers seat/salary.
Next weekend is big. We're in a rut and need to turn it around asap against Cheltenham.
BTW, why are we playing a fancy set-piece to a player who's our last man in defense. Surely if we're going to attempt that we'd have a covering defensive player.
And finally, from the brief glimpses of Agyei, when he's fully fit, I wouldn't mind seeing him play as our striker.

Now do I stick with the game or wander off to the bar? Beckles never offside. At least he hit the target. The bar beckons. Knowing my luck Iāll miss a magnificent fight back. Doing my bit to help the boys in red. The playoff spots are getting beyond us I fear Maybe next season, in league 2?

My take for what it's worth we've had a few good hidings at home so far this season but we've also had some very good results especially away Peterborough and Blackpool draws are now looking like very good results. Our season won't be defined against the likes of Derby Bolton and Oxford but against the teams that will finish half way or below. Our lack of goals is worrying but Agyei from what I've seen looks a very good player and will score goals We've been really unlucky with injuries to key players and now is not the time for knee jerk reactions.Wellens is a very good manager i believe and this season should now be all about stabilising ourselvesin league one.Jordan Graham will come back and we will add to this young squad.Up the O's

Heās been forced back to early one point during his game time today he twisted and turned and left his men for dead, and right then my gut instinct said to me heās worth starting the next game, but my head says youāre right, too much too soon could be more damaging in the long run. The coaching team are doing it right and building him up nicely. Once heās up to speed, I think he will bury the name Smyth from our vocabulary as heās the player weāve missed the most this season who left us.

Even today, until the sending off, we looked on a par with Derby. Threats both ends, good competition in the middle. Brown, Happe and particularly Rob Hunt looked good. I thought Piggott, Theo and George were on the cusp of fashioning a goal, even after Derby scored. Matt Harrold's analysis was spot on. And most of the teams below us lost (it's beginning to look like a league of two halves). This is the type of run of results and luck which will create the team's character. I've seen enough to make me think that if Richie and co. and this squad stay together then they will get better. Surviving this league will create a solid foundation for moving into mid-table and play-offs in the next five years. The only addition I think we will need is someone to play the Darren Pratley role when the good man himself hangs up his boots.

The problem is the players just arenāt league 1 standard. You can change the manger but we will still get the same results. We need a CB, wing back, and 2 forward players in January if we are to stay up. Next weeks game against Cheltenham is going to be huge otherwise I can see the owners losing interest financially if we go back down to league 2.

Reflections on the morning after. I've tried to stay factual and dispassionate.
Still a long way to go this season and we are far from done yet. But we have not set this division alight. Some decent performances home and away but 18 goals scored in 20 games, three crushing home defeats against teams currently in the top five and one win against a team currently in the top half shows us where we are in the pecking order. On a points per game basis we are heading for 50 or 51 points which is on the margin of relegation in an average League One season.
Richie remains unproven at this level- a 25% win rate from 85 games. Oldham were relegated with him in charge and Swindon and Doncaster went down the season he left them. This may not be his fault but it does mean that up to this season he had yet to manage even a bang average League One team. As we know Wellens style of play does not produce huge numbers of chances. Last season we scored the second lowest number of goals in history by any team winning the fourth tier title. The result of this is that when things start to go wrong both the defence and the forwards are under greater pressure.
I think we've seen enough of this season to know that it is not a change of luck that is needed. We need improvement in the second half of the season all over the pitch and off it. If it is a matter of 'small margins' as Richie says, we need to put that right. I'll leave it to the experts to work out how.

Whilst I agree with a lot of what ramblingman says I think we are getting close to the players having little confidence in what they are doing . Too many team changes and nowhere near enough goals coming from other areas of the pitch besides our forwards ,the MF and Defence have to find a way to chip in .

Watching Richie he canāt help telling people what they should be doing, where they should be standing, who should be taking the thrown ins etc. He lives and breaths the game, but sometimes youāve got to trust the players and let them get on with it, otherwise players (like James), are constantly looking over at the bench to see if they are doing it right. Canāt be good for the concentration or confidence.

I agree totally to the last post As technically gifted RW is as a coach it not correct at times I notice on the on line match recoding RW telling people in a micro management way how do everything - as the previous poster says let the players have more confidence when they are on the pitch.

I thought we played well for the first 30 odd minutes. The sending off killed us as did the second goal. Archibald putting away his chance would have completely changed the game. Small margins is what RW said and I would agree.

Football is usually a game of small margins, small moments that change the game. That is not new. The better teams have a habit of doing better in those small moments, we did regularly last season scoring some real world class goals, despite not creating too many opportunities. This season we have just lost that touch.
Itās also about creating chances, more opportunities to generate those small moments. Itās about defending better when the small moments happen for the opposition. Yesterday for the first hour we were sort of OK, sort of, yet gave away some poor goals and went down to 10 men. Bad luck? Not really. Canāt comment on the last 30 minutes, in the bar drowning my sorrows at yet another modest performance, spent my time looking at how others below us were doing.
The sending off was a key moment. But not altogether surprising. Our discipline has been poor this season, starting at the top.
But onwards and upwards. Looking forward to a trip to Cheltenham. A very winnable game and 3 points most welcome. I dare say the Cheltenham fans see it the same way.
Going to be a long, hard second half to the season.

I agree with what Dohnut says and I would also like adopt Kbola's unfettered optimism. There were a few good moments yesterday; seeing Beckles back on the pitch and running around enthusiastically. Great goal were it not offside. Everyone's focus seems to be on Agyei, who did ok, but I thought Shaq Forde contributed some good moments, creating space with trickiness. Pratley played well and showed determination in the middle, an energetic performance. The sending off stunned the hopes set up in the first half, and our potential competitiveness was killed off by the sending off. However, we had moments in the second half when one goal might have made a difference. And I think it's these moments which we need to get right. Maybe they were the moments that went right away to Exeter, home to Reading, away to Peterborough and Blackpool, etc. And remember we hit the post in the final minutes of 2-3 against high-flying Oxford. Obviously Derby's third was curtains.
It will be quite nail-biting in the second half of the season, but exciting too! Let's move forwards.
