Checking TV listings on the festive TV Times and Saturday 23 December has a pretty awesome set of movies on Freeview channels. Paddington (BBC1); The Big Sleep, Casablanca (BBC2); How The Grinch Stole Christmas (ITV) ; The Shawshank Redemption (BBC3); Escape To Victory, The Dirty Dozen (Channel 5). However Channel 4 has Scrooged, It’s a Wonderful Life, Men in Black 3, Die Hard, Scent of a Woman and Anchorman 2 running from 2.35pm to 4:20am all following on from each other. And luckily Orient are away :-)

Don’t really have too many favourites but if I was to choose, Shawshank Redemption is up there.
Strange in that Red (Morgan Freeman) becomes a hero figure despite being a cold blooded murderer. A film that makes heroes of the villains without considering their victims. But that’s the movies. In reality he should have died in jail yet when he walks to meet Andy at the end, it remains a very understated but good finale.
At Christmas I have my annual dose of A Christmas Carol. The Patrick Stewart version. Watch this 3-4 times. Of course it’s the usual them vs us, rich vs poor stuff but a bloody good film.
Other than that I like action films, Equaliser stuff. Don’t like Bond.
