Do we know for a fact that McMahon was employed as a set piece coach? I mean for real? Or is that hearsay?

Yes, the club announced it but he was already at the club looking after the players not in the matchday squad.
My take is that the board were not prepared to pay someone just to be a childminder, so Ling (wanting to keep his mate in employment) came up with the idea of having him as a set piece coach.

I thought he had had no impact as a set-piece coach but Derby's third goal can now be added to his list of credits.

My thought is Daryl is at the club to learn from RW and be a potential replacement should RW leave. I don't think for one minute the club want the RW to leave but money talks and one day it may happen. With Daryl at the club we have an experienced manager (experienced as in having managed previously) to immediately take over the reigns (on a permanent or temporary basis). Maybe there was some strong interest in RW at the time Daryl joined. This or it is to give a mate a job as I don't believe we needed a set piece coach or a babysitter.

As a Daggers fan, McMahon's time is remembered by 2 things. Failing to get to the play offs with a healthy budget and, you guessed it, being poor at set peices.
I can't imagine the board are thinking of appointing him as manager if RW moves on, it would be a big step back

I posted a thread where RW takes part in an online podcast and it's decent to be fair. He does talk about receiving offers from clubs, Bradford being one of them, but he wants to show loyalty to the club and the fans at Orient so won't be going or leaving anytime soon. He talked about people questioning his loyalty, that he couldn't manage at league one level and we've given him an opportunity and chance and he intends on repaying that.
He's staying, so get rid of Daryl as he didn't cut it as a manger at a lower level than we play at and his set plays are absolutely pee poor.

The improvements Darz has made in set piece play is there, it's very subtle and hard to make out but if you look, it's there.
