The DoF sounded rather downbeat and glum, not surprisingly given recent results, not least the meek Cup exit. On the plus side there was still a couple of bob left in the kitty and by hook or crook there should be a couple of arrivals and departures in January, although as we all know it won't be easy. I didn't get the impression we'd see much more of Cooper.
On the longer term positive front, unlike a few years ago Ling sounded as if he really believed we could go on to become sustainable at a higher level.
I just pray we can stay up this season.

I’m always a future medium/long term type of person but right now I’d be happy if we survive this season in league 1. 2 months since our last league win. That trend has got to stop. |

Didn't learn much from that except that our set piece coach isn't solely responsible for our set pieces, is paid a pittance and may be on the way out to pastures new. 🤔

Does that mean most of the time he isnt being honest?

The only good ones available are sorted and their clubs reluctant to let them go. So likely to be a loan striker or picking up someone from the lower leagues. Either way it’s good the club recognise we have an issue and doing their best to resolve. But let’s face it, decent, scoring, strikers are not in abundance. Wish him the best of luck. we are light On a winger too so can see the sense. We need to create more chances for whoever plays up front. Cannot criticise the club for making an effort to secure our league 1 status. If we can add a couple of players to the squad and maybe become a little more adventurous in attack we could turn round our shocking run of results. |

Did anyone else's podcast cut out early? I was really into it and was in total agreement with what Martin was saying.
But it just seemed to end early?

The Orient Hour posted on Twitter/x that there was a technical difficulty and that the last minute or so was cut off and that the full interview would be posted later. I agree with you about ML. I think it is important to see the long term perspective.

I think it is important to see the long term perspective. Thanks SC. That makes sense. I honestly don't know what people expect. Thoughts of running through this division are delusional. I'd happily take survival in 16th place with safety assured just after Easter. Then in the summer we take stock, and go again next year. This is a project. It takes time. The club as a whole is building. Sometimes the playing side of things will motor ahead of the administrative side or the academy or the women's, but then it'll swing the other way and the first team will stutter and the rest of the club will march on. As long as collectively there is a will to keep on bettering ourselves then what is there not to like? |

How much of the interview is there left? I've just listened and that's the probably the best I've heard ML speak. Lots of positives, a pathway forwards, a plan, awareness and a frankness which in the past he kind of misses. Normally he can be quite defensive, quite closed in his language and mostly dismissive of the fans. Not in this interview he wasn't. He is almost buzzing!!
I've got the Premier league on mute whilst listening to this and I found myself looking at my device thinking what's gone wrong with you!
Great episode in my opinion, would be even better if we could get the finish of the interview.
