My desktop pc is getting on a bit so I'm looking at either updating the innards, replacing it with a new one or going for a mini. I have plenty of space so that's not a consideration.
Any advice please?

Fisch I bought my son last month a top gaming PC and the company who made it (to my specs) said you never have to bin this you just upgrade the newer better parts in a years time for example.
So I'd say upgrade away!

Ive mentioned this many times before, but you cant beat the Linux operating system, particularly Linux Mint
I have three laptops, all oldish, 2013, 2014 & 2015. All run Mint really well. all are fast. Hard drives all been upgraded to Solid State Drives ( SSDs), and they are the best ive ever had.
Paid around £80 for each of them on ebay, so inexpensive computing too

At least it won't have bloody Edge on it.

No more Edge ( Brave Browser is a really good one ), no more anti virus programmes, no more telemetry, altogether much nice experience

I've got Linux Mint on my main one and Windows 10/Zorin duel boot on the laptop. I've also got a few other Linux distro's on a flash drive. I only kept Windows 10 on the laptop just to have a look at it, but I hate it and never use it. I've been using Linux Mint for donkeys years, it's so simple to use and doesn't take long to get used to. Unless you need Windows for certain 'Windows only' stuff I wouldn't touch it with a barge poll. Duel boot Windows/Linux Mint and be happy.
