Like Bosman, this ruling will have profound unintended consequences that are damaging to the fabric of the game imho.

Loads of money in it so the big clubs will do it and the fans will love it . No relegation ,a chance to watch your team ,perhaps a couple of times a year at places like PSG and Real Madrid without leaving the country and instead you can watch them in your own stadium with massive screens and fantastic sound systems . Of course they will go for it in the end .

Just as the Premier League concentrated money at the top in our leagues, a super league will create even more wealth at the top of the game, but without any meaningful pyramid structure, where is the risk.
Will games simply become exhibition matches and what happens to old rivalries such as Everton v Liverpool?
Worldwide audience figures may well make this feasible, but there is also the opportunity for the clubs that remain to revitalise the domestic game and start again without the money bags clubs.

Some official on Radio 4 has just stated that any club joining a super league will be deducted 30 points. Someone will get a judge to outlaw that no doubt.

I think this is a key line from the judge. "That does not mean that a competition such as the Super League project must necessarily be approved. The Court does not rule on that specific project in its judgment." And An initial report released last December by the ECJ said the rules of football's European and world governing bodies were "compatible with EU competition law"
I am not sure what the next move will be. Surely it’s better to talk to the current powers to work more inclusively than they maybe doing now? Look to find solutions to the problems rather than create divisions which is what happened last time out.

There’s nothing to say that the super clubs will need either FIFA or any governing body except their own ,govern themselves and keep the pay themselves ,very much like the Premier league do now . They might ,in time , bring in other continents ,the best of the rest ,can you imagine how much revenue that would bring in . |
