This is a rather interesting article on the three named above. It’s interesting how they’ve all been successful yet the fans in some quarters are not happy. It would appear from net transfer spend Liverpool are over performing in comparison to there rivals and trophies won. Red Sox seem to have let their best players go and replace them with inferior alternatives. Yet it’s clear the team with the biggest salary wins! Fan discontent is there on both sides of the Atlantic despite serious investment being made in both clubs. Are we as fans fickle to the next win or transfer window? Yet FSG are rebuilding Anfield and they’ve had success whilst doing it, isn’t the long term viability better than the short term win at all costs mentality?
It’s interesting to read this as you could hear Nigel saying the same things. Sustainability, long term visions, stadium, infrastructure and so on. We seem to work along similar lines, a budget fit for purpose with the hope (is that the right word to use) that we out perform our natural position within the table.
I would take FSG or anyone else with the sort of ownership they’ve given Liverpool over their ownership. I said it previously, I believe we have the best owners this club has ever had and long may that continue. We also have a top manager and in time and probably in line with their plan or vision if he is backed then I see us continuing the climb up the league and ultimately to the championship. When that happens it will have closed a chapter on my life of where we were, where we fell to and the climb back to where I believe we belong.
Sometimes we as fans don’t see the bigger picture or want immediate success without considering the downsides of a potential receivership due to wanton uncontrolled spending.
It’s a funny old game as Greavesey once said.
