He said only the brave and stupid went over!! 😂The Addicks fans were baying for blood I woke up at 4am and once I'm awake there is no going back to sleep so I started reading their forum. OMG they are going bonkers over there. They want the manager out, they want Scott out, they want virtually all the players he's brought in out! It seems the manager has lost the dressing room, well according to them he has. I think I read they've had 18 managers since Curbishley left in 15 years! No one seems to be given a chance or opportunity if that's correct. They were not critical of us, only they they believe that with their budget being 5 times ours then the reality is they should win. One asked why did we get rid of Prately? He maybe 39 but he showed more desire than any of their midfield, even when he made that pass pass in the first half he ran 20 yards to try to win it back whereas there midfield didn't run, chase anything they did wrong. They also praised Beccles and that they played into those two players hands the whole game. If they lose against Bristol Rovers it's gonna be deacon 5! I’ll have to check this site out…Mind you we’ve been there..Also I think Prats thought for a quick moment he was back in a Charlton shirt with that pass..😁

Makes you feel like we have nothing to moan about in comparison. Opinions on Lyndon Dykes are worth your time

Good morning, Charlton fan here, I have read a lot of these posts and unfortunately find myself agreeing with most of them. I doubt you'll have an easier home win for the rest of the season.
We have imho, one of the worst managers in the league and it showed. We have become a pure long ball team with no height up top. I think Omar Beckles won't have an easier dual for the rest of the season.
I suspect you lot will comfortably stay up as you looked an organised side and that's what's most important on the back of a promotion season. All your fans I spoke to were really level headed and spot on.
I made a vlog as I always do, I did do one at the start of the season vs yous but it was pretty poor and I didn't quite understand how to edit etc back then.
Here it is:
To the fans I spoke with thank you again if you post on here and cheers for being so welcoming at your ground.
All the best and I look forward to see us playing you again next season as I am going to guess, we are both here for now 😂
Enjoy your new years O's

Nice job. You're down in the mouth enough to be a pukka O's fan As for the game, Blackett-Wosname can't do it all himself but his teammates seem to give him the ball and then say "go on then...". I read that CAFC have spend £1m on their women's team this year, I guess you are not short of a bob or two?

I read that CAFC have spend £1m on their women's team this year, I guess you are not short of a bob or two? Thank you (I think) 😂 Unfortunately that's our playstyle at the start of most game, Corey Blackett-Taylor is given the ball and when he has some success, he eventually gets man marked out of the game and then we resort to long balls and usually draw, it's pretty awful tbf I am not sure how much it is, but I know it isn't cheap and our old owner was pretty set on having the women's team in the top flight. Personally I think that can wait as there's bigger problems at CAFC and the money drawn in doesn't justify it, may sound harsh but it's the truth. I'll root for the womens teams and our u21s etc, but not quite like the senior mens team. We also have one of the highest wage bills in the league and are very close to breaking FFP, you wouldn't believe it after the other day would you 😂 A terribly mismanaged club. There are so many other better ran clubs in this division with half our resources, that's where the frustration comes from I'd say from a lot of our fans. Overpaid footballers who think they're better than what they are. We miss a character like Pratley who is a top professional, half our players could only dream of having half the career he's had.

The problem with Charlton is the constant chopping and changing of manager and direction. Which us as O's fans know exactly all about.
Until you have absolutely everyone from top to bottom singing from the same hymn sheet and pulling in the same direction you'll never get back to where you are.
Not just Charlton. Any team.
No need to sack Appleton, he's as good / bad as any at this level. But he needs time, his own players, etc. And it'll take at least 2 years.

In my mind Charlton Athletic fans think the team should still be in the Premier League. They excited many football fans when they were and had many neutrals on their side. The fall was inevitable and Charlton failed to play the division they were in and that made the fans restless. Never Orient fans enemies but some were very spiteful who I chatted to on the walk to the station.Give as much support as you can when you go through the dark periods. The club and ground are big enough for top league football.Best of luck with future endeavours.

The problem is mate, although I agree with the sentiment of your post, I truly believe its the wrong man at the club. I would love to see a Charlton manager I like in charge, I simply don't like this man, and has poor football doesn't make up for his dull personality. All of our success in the past has been when we have had ex-Charlton players pulling the strings, it never works with an outsider unfortunately. Our mistake was letting go off Johnnie Jackson so early probably.. Like I said though I agree chopping and changing isn't ideal, but sometimes if you look at leagues, changes can improve teams for the better

I personally don't know many fans that believe we belong in the Premier league, I think mid table championship is probably about our level. I'm surprised there was spiteful fans but unfortunately that's the nature of this sport sometimes. My issue is, we have one of the highest budgets in this league, all the facilities clubs like Fleetwood, Carlisle etc would aspire to have and we make a mess of it every season. We are underperforming massively as a club imho but I am under no illusion that we belong in the Prem, we are just a fairly decent sized club in London Hope you didn't have any grief off our fans?

Selling your team short in my opinion. Charlton enjoy attendances that are better than Bournemouth and Luton and not too far from Burnley. Massive catchment area and a ground capacity able to capitalise on success. The foundation is well and truly there. Lower half premiership is not a pipe dream. Right now it’s not happening. But with the right management structure in place, why not?

Michael Duff would be a great appointment. It still might be too early for Jason Pearce. Or go back to Curbs? Jones ex Luton would be good, but he will need time to put his own stamp on the club. Saying that they will all need time, will the fans allow any of them that?

We all demand instant success,in our case an FA CUP run suffices and champions every 50 years or so.In the first quarter of this century we have been overwhelmed with grief and honours.

We enjoy instant success, want it, maybe as you say demand it in a way. But don’t really expect it, well I don’t. Behind all the furore of supporting clubs like our comes a huge dose of reality. Deep down we know successful seasons are few and far between. But that makes recent years all the sweeter. Charlton are well placed to be successful, failure harder to take for their fans given their infrastructure and budget. Me. I’ll be very happy with a few mid-table seasons in league 1 with the odd moments of glory interspersed with the odd moments of despair. Unlike Charlton, we don’t yet have the facilities to allow us to even dream of a solid run in the championship. It may happen.

But with the right management structure in place, why not? You are right but I think what it boils down to is the money. Every club has potential when financially backed. Of course ours has a great chance as we have so many advantages. Unfortunately our biggest advantages can sometimes be a hindrance. I suspect we will be in league 1 for a few more years yet at least.. I wish I had your optimism mate 😂

Saying that they will all need time, will the fans allow any of them that? I think this is the issue atm. We made an approach for Ferguson of Peterborough and Challinor of Stockport. Both allegedly turned us down as we have become a poisoned chalice of sorts. The main thing for me is the players, until we get that right we could have Klopp and we would lack the fight still. Too much of an inexperienced side at present. Duff could be a good appointment as he worked with May before and got the best out of him. I think Pearce isn't up to the task quite yet and I think we have become quite impatient with allowing people to build here (particularly in league 1). I reckon Jones will hold out for a championship gig. I think the mistake may have been letting Johnnie Jackson go. Young manager, ex-CAFC, experienced pro and an intelligent lovely bloke. Unfortunately the football got so poor under him and even I wanted him gone as I was concerned he was tarnishing his legacy. Hindsight is a wonderful thing though and now I wish we stuck with him as we haven't progressed at all anyway and he's looking like a solid appointment at Wimbledon..
