Cliff Richard. Just mentioning him because I went to school with him. Fascinating. My sister would be jealous, but not my wife who had dealings with him many years ago. I have too indirectly as part of his involvement in the fair trade movement. Got an album of his, personally signed. Must be worth a fiver these days.

Just mentioning; Valéry Giscard d'Estaing. President of France in the 1970s. We lived next door to him in the village of Estaing. Not aware he made any albums and in the conversations I had with him he never mentioned you. But I am sure you have some tenuous association!

£100.00 or £100,000. Either way it’s on the low side so why would you say that? He is our top scorer and always likely to nick a goal even when doing not very much. We ain’t exactly overflowing with goal-scorers, or even potential goal-scorers.

None at all. have met many rich and famous people as part of my work, can’t remember them all. I’m damn sure they don’t remember me. Of no consequence. Don’t really consider them as anything more than casual acquaintances. The sort of thing we all experience at times. Paul was a bit different. Having shared games and changing rooms with him then watching him play for my team was a bit different, a bit special. It was nice to see him, a teammate, do well. Which is why I remember him. It’s called respect for what he achieved, at 15.

Sounds like his injury tonight could be a bad one. Should have taken that $400k…..!

As for my own opinion, I'm torn. Think it would be difficult to turn down that kind of money for a player whose contract is up in the summer, but would be equally happy for him to sign an extension. Would be extremely disappointed to lose him on a free. (Although as an academy player I believe we'd still be entitled to a small fee, no?)
I agree he's a frustrating player, but he looks equally as good (or bad 😅) in this league as he did a step down, so can't deny he's improved. Would be interesting to see if he can keep progressing with us.
As the kind of player who can get you a goal from nothing, even if he often doesn't contribute much else, I'd personally prefer him to be a backup striker who can also fill in on the wings (not taking the recent injury into account, of course). That would probably lower his value though.
I guess it all hangs on whether he's planning to extend or move on, which we just don't know. If he wasn't an academy player I'd be more inclined to take the money. But he is one, and the romantic in me can't help but dream about him banging in 20 goals next season and leaving the club a legend for 5 million 😁

According to google he was born 12 October 1949 and died 4 January 2017. I cant recall seeing him play that much in his first stint at the Os that much but remember that he was big for his age and got sold to Charlton after only around 2 seasons of being in Os first team. As to Ruel, not only our top goal scorer but also tied with Theo as our top assist maker, all this in a goal scoring starvation season !
