I chuckled,the Two Ronnies did a pismonunciation sketch. Love the Ronnie Barker sketch as I suffered a pismonunication. I do not like the cream substitute " creme fraiche " Once in a restaurant I ordered apple pie but I mistakenly said to the waitress I do not want any of that "Femfresh" on the pie. Fortunately the waitress understood and giggled but I was very embarassed. |

We had a family meal in a well know pizza chain, we ordered a bottle of merlot. The waitress corrected the pronunciation at least twice insisting the t in merlot was pronounced. I tried to explain but was told with 100% certainty by her that we were all wrong it's merloT as that is how she was trained to pronounce it. In her honour at family meals we always refer to a bottle of merloT. |
