Yesterday Redintheface posted that it was the anniversary of the late Jimmy Bloomfields birth. That got me thinking.
Jimmy was the manager when I started watching the first team and in all my years I'd say he was the best manager we've ever had. So there are many in here who seen many more managers than I have, some less. In your opinion who do you rate as the best manager the O's have had?

Hard to argue against Johnny Carey who took us up to the first division. Jimmy Bloomfield can't be far behind him. Honourable mention to George Petchey too.

If it is style then it will be George Petchey, but maybe that includes the romanticism of my long lost youth.RW Jimmy Bloomfield Russell Slade and Justin all put us on the upward climb.John Carey avec pipe allowed my eyes see the glory of the top flight. All goes to say we have had some gooduns,God bless em all.

Should add perhaps that the current incumbent is very good.

My best mate was coached by Petchey at Brighton and he said he was the best coach he ever had. His sessions were amazing.

It's difficult to judge managers now as they don't tend to hang around very long 3 years is a rarity nowadays.Petchey and bloomfield were the first managers i witnessed and they brought in some really exciting players Laurie Cunningham and Chedozie and Kitchen yo mention just a few.Wellens is a completely different animal altogether he wants to play on the front foot at all times and chases promotion every season and can really spot talent. Some of the young players he's recruited since he's been here are really exciting and if he stays with us will get us into the championship in the next two years and will IMO become our greatest manager

Bloomfield and Petchey were both favourites of mine, but I think Richie will become our GOAT, he’s one promotion away from achieving that imo.

Very hard to compare over many years, different styles etc, but I think Richie Wellens is the best we've ever had. Justin close, Petchy,Bloomfield also. Going back further Alec Stock warrants a mention. Slade also close, but to me Richie is the greatest

Wellens, Petchey, Slade, Edinburgh & Bloomfield all achieved more than they should've. Special mentions for Stock, Ling and Embleton.

As said elsewhere the short time most managers now spend at a club makes comparisons tricky. My own top 2 would be Petchey, Bloomfield. After those two then - in alphabetical order - Carey, Edinburgh, Stock & Wellens.
