Can't catch 9th, 11th won't catch us. I predicted 18th so I'm absolutely buzzing for Richie and the lads this season. We had a dalliance at one point with the playoffs but it was clear that we were lacking depth in areas and ultimately not having our first choice front 3 or 4 available at any given time this season sort of put paid to any chance of the playoffs. January was brilliant when we had Agyei, Theo, Forde, and Ollie across the top. We looked class. There is so much to be positive about this season. Portsmouth away was a great day out. We move forward with a great board in place, a top manager, and a great young team. Told you we'd never finish 10th!

Im happy with 11th. To all the bedwetters, moaners, naysayers, negative heads riding the negative wave, the guys that doubted Richie had what it takes, the bellends that give it to Ling, the guys that aint happy unless theyre moaning, this is what stability looks like. We build from a solid base.

Just had a Quick Look back at our predictions and quite a few had us in the mid-table region. Mine was 12th. Good season overall.

So 11th is at the top end of that range.

11th is above expectation in the first year of consolidation in this league. Considering the giants coming down and some decent sides coming up (who might also have consolidation in the top half in mind next season) I think we should hold our fire predicting for the playoffs next year. I am always optimistic and I think it is consistent to say that top half will be another good achievement next year. We are probably going to lose some good players, for example Happe and El Miz. Some good players we retain may suffer from long term injuries, like we had this year. A third of the management team has gone (Matt H).
So I think we should hold back from high expectations of playoffs and promotion at the moment and give the players and management room to grow into the season. By Christmas we should see where we lie.

We could strengthen the squad considerably and still end up finishing mid-table.

A season beyond expectation, now we know what is wanted to progress. The squad does not have to be torn apart,a few changes to where we was a little weak if that is possible.Don't forget there are many teams chasing the players they need a well some with a bigger budget than the O's.

Wasn't the plan once reaching League One to be a top 'Fifty' club consistently within 5 years.
So that's 8th and above. To reach 11th in our first season is good going.
But next season I feel will be more difficult.
I would take 10/11 place again.

I think we were joint 10th, this goal difference thing is just a technicality.

2nd or 3rd next season with Richie at the helm. Who do you think will finish first then? Depends who goes up/comes down, but Bolton, Birmingham, Barnsley and Peterborough will all be in the mix and I can only see Charlton improving.

I wouldn’t rule out Wrexham being in the mix as well - especially if they are able to continue to spend their way to the top.🫤

Squad, manager and income will be starting to level out a bit. Reckon some of the L1 players they signed on big wages could be in for a rude awakening after taking it easy in the lower leagues for a few seasons, and some of them are getting on a bit now. Yeah, they could afford a whole new starting 11, but that never works and they still need to meet FFP. Will need a season or two to rebuild I reckon.

All they have to do to get round FPP is contact Man City legal Dept. and see if they have any spare capacity to manage ways round the Regs.

You may be right but personally, with that sort of momentum and spending power behind them, I wouldn’t be overly surprised if they are pushing for the top six.

Maybe in the sense that we were pushing for the top six but I don't think they'll be serious contenders for a season at least. We'll see, as you say.
