With the announcement of removing replays from FA Cup games and the condemnation by EFL clubs, I can't help but think that professional football in this country really is in a sorry state.
Reason I say this is it highlights yet again the reliance on the Premier League to bolster the finances of clubs below the Premier League, which has now become a situation where the Premier League know that they can hold both the FA and EFL to ransom.
We even have the situation where Premier League clubs tend to overlook the ability of players in the EFL and have therefore removed any cash injection that EFL clubs once received.
I know there will be an independent regulator which is certainly going to be better than what we have, but should they go heavy handed with the Premier League (which they need to), I can see this being the tipping point where the Premier League simply refuse to adhere and breakaway.

I agree with what you say. However, I believe its gonna get a whole lot worse next season with 1,000 games being broadcast live in the EFL. We can forget our lovely 3pm kick off's as we will be at the mercy of Sky, a company I detest.

The FA Cup to me is the best cup competition in the world, where the best can play the worst and be held to defeats or draws. The champions league is a joke, the best don't play the best until the end. Its a rigged competition. If the O's boycotted the FA Cup I'd be gutted it's got to that, but I'd support the club, as its a funking joke!

I was at the 0-0 draw in the cup against Chelsea at Brisbane Road and the glorious 2-1 replay win at Stamford Bridge. They can't take that away from me 🙂

The FA f@cked up the original deal with the PL and it’s been downhill since. Whether intervention by a regulator can change this is imo highly unlikely, but it’s the best chance we have of restoring some semblance of normality to the pyramid system. Either that or the PL becomes a US style club with relegation consigned to the history books.

All regualtors are, are jobs for the boys, all are weak, ineffective and a waste of public money.

BT Sport were continually showing the Os. (In the National League).

I wonder who will be the darlings of the National League next season,my guess will be Forest Green the team built on windmills.Southend stay for another season, shows how good we did with a not so good team, but they put the effort in and rewarded us all.

Lets be honest, most EFL games are rubbish, you have to support one of the two sides playing to even attempt to watch 90 mins of tripe
Would you waste 90 minutes of your life watching Notts County play out a dreadful 0 0 draw with Mansfield ?

Yes,but you would not know it would be 0-0 until the final whistle.I certainly do not agree that most EFL games are rubbish. Why do you support an EFL club if you have that view.As David Coleman would have said, Astonishing!

A tad unkind, our team was decent enough by NL standards. they had spirit and worked together. Though our first game back in the EFL against Cheltenham identified clearly in my opinion that the step up in quality was evident. But we adjusted, continued to improve and today a million miles from those dark days. I hated NL with a passion. I enjoy league 1 and next season there will be some solid games against decent teams. FGR have shown the dangers of not adapting to higher level football, their rise and fall has been quite stunning. Southend will be back. The pyramid has a habit of levelling things out over time.

Here we go Southend again 😂😂😂 forest Green is what happens when you appoint the wrong manager. That's what I fear when Richie does finally leave us.
