For years, i was in favour of technology being used to correct wrong referee decision, & i initially welcomed VAR, but gradually over the last year, i have changed my mind, and would like it to be scrapped.
Yesterdays VAR decision that cost Coventry a place in an FA cup final was the final straw for me. Had that goal been scored in any EFL game, it would have stood
Over many weeks, when watching Premier League football, players who score cannot celebrate, because so many goals have to be verified by VAR, and even if the goal is allowed, the time taken to reach that decision, makes the celebration much less.
Ultimately, VARs final decision is made by humans anyway, and human error plays a part
I would keep goalline technology, but scrap everything else
Thank goodness we dont see VAR in league 1 matches, its ruining football
anyone else agree with me?

Yes I do.
If that goal had stood we would be talking about one of the biggest upsets in the cups history. To come back from 3 down to win it against Utd would have been a massive worldwide story. Now it will just be a footnote. Shame really as Coventry deserved it. Offside for a toe nail is ridiculous.

Not a question of whether the goal stood or not. The real question being was it a goal at all. Do we want games decided on non-goals? Of course not. The decision is taken by people reviewing technology and not the technology itself. Anyone got any proof that the decision was wrong? Of course not, too many views are based on romantic notions about cup upsets etc. not proof.

I've actually become convinced that the VAR refs are getting decisions wrong on purpose in the hope that it will force the PL and FA to get rid of it.
As for yesterday's decision, anyone else believe that it was actually onside as the line goes over the Man U players foot whereas doesn't for the Coventry's? Again I'm not surprised by this dodgy call as I bet the FA were on the panic that the final was going to involve a club in the 2nd tier of english football and thus putting a dent in the Premier League being the best league in the world (not my words).

Any evidence that people reviewing VAR are corrupt? Staggering comment. Massive leap from the possibility of human error and difference of opinion to corruption. Not a leap I plan to make anytime soon.

As for the FA, that's another matter.

Thanks for the English lesson and as you seem to be going out of your way to correct me (again), I won't bother to post anymore as obviously you have more time than I.

I don’t like accusations of corruption without evidence against people doing the best job they can in difficult circumstances where every judgement will be put under the microscope by us all. Of course opinions will be divided. Of course sometimes people make mistakes even with technology as an aid. Thats life.
