Been casting an eye over the potential strength next season and it’s looking pretty tasty. The relegated teams look useful, including Rotherham with Evans. The promoted teams have decent financial clout. The weaker teams have largely gone.
Really important we recruit well in the summer. Should be a decent and very competitive season.

Donny make the play-off final. Crawley and MK Dons off due to rain. Would like Crawley to make it, great away-day. If not then MK Dons, another decent away trip. Don’t want yet another long trek. Wrexham, Birmingham, Mansfield, Rotherham, Stockport, Huddersfield. None can be described as local.

Not sure that adds up. Richie's interview was a bit downbeat about recruitment, pointing out that because there are now quite a few more teams with big budgets they will get first choice and we will get the leftovers.

Interesting you say that as, personally, I felt Wellens remarks were both realistic in managing expectations but positive too in making it clear that every penny of the budget should be used on bringing in players who can make a positive impact on the first team from the outset. I certainly wouldn’t complain if that could be achieved.

If our recruitment's as solid as last summer then I see no reason why we shouldn't have another good season. We're a well-run club emanating good vibes now. We're establishing a reputation for giving opportunities to young talent and players who maybe need to rebuild their careers in a lower division. We might not get the cream of the crop, but nobody's expecting us to.

Other teams will have bigger budgets than us but we're a very attractive proposition for young loan players from teams higher up the pyrami.I think nowadays the loan signings can be more important than the actual permanent signings made by clubs.Forde and Idris being good examples and look at difference Joe Taylor made to lincoln when he signed for them in January there will be some real gems out there to be found

Didn’t think Richie was downbeat. I thought he was hugely realistic. This summer the recruitment team will definitely earn their corn. We won’t, nor will we ever get the big names but that doesn’t mean getting poor players. Only so many big names out there. After that we have as good a chance as any for picking up solid players who want regular first team football in a progressive club. A manager on a 3 year deal and great track record helps no end. And of course the bigger clubs will already have plenty of contracted players. There will be plenty of solid players looking for a club. They may like what they see at Brisbane Road. Masses of work to be done by Ling and his team. I see league 1 next season as a massive step up. We need to do the same. Fewer Joe Pigotts and more Ethan Galbraiths. I like JP but no fit to how we play. Get the coffee pot bubbling. The talent is out there. And we start with decent talent in the squad already. The future is bright. The future is Red. But let’s not Fcuk it up.

Wasn’t Richie saying in his interview that there is a pecking order for the better players and that as a sought after player you might be wanted by 4or5 clubs, often with bigger budgets than ours, so players will listen to them first, and we have to wait to see if they choose us. Kind of explains why we do our business later in the transfer window.

The consensus seems to be that it’s a harder league next season, but it’s never an easy step up for teams from League 2 and teams coming down can’t take things for granted that they’ll bounce straight back, as is shown by the number of former Championship clubs in this division. We are a more experienced squad than we were, some of our younger players have improved considerably, we will be replacing league 2 quality with more capable players at this level, so we will be better than last season and imo capable of improving on this season’s performance.

Nor in the January windows when few of available players fall into the in demand big player category.

If we are pushing for a top 10 finish next season that will be an excellent result. League 1 is full of bigger clubs and smaller ones with more money. Mid table is fine.

When you look back over the past season there were plenty of opertunites for us to win games which we didn't for one reason or another. Those youngsters have now had a season of this level and hopefully will learn from the experience and be better for it.
Plenty to look forwards to.

On that point I hope the new coach appointment will be a positive one which can help and continue and even improve what we've done so far.

The DoF and RW must be salivating over the amount of players being off loaded by clubs in the EFL according to the news feeds coming through on my mobile. The free agents I expect will want a sign on fee but no transfer money to worry about.

And I can believe there will be a plethora of available talent looking for a club, looking for a job. I guess the trick is getting the ones you want and who will fit into the style we play. Busy time for the committee.

You’d think and I got the impression from Richie’s interview, that we have a list already of those we are interested in. Hopefully the club will be looked upon as one that is going places, so hopefully some of our picks near the top of our list in each position, will be swayed by that and it will be easier to attract better players as a result. Wage thiefs can go elsewhere, as I think Richie has suggested in the past.

Next season will be brutal in League 1. Most of the poor teams have now gone, and there will be 7 new teams, none of them will be weak.
There are a number of teams that under performed this season gone, and they wont under perform again. Wigan, Charlton, Reading are three such teams.
The top three from League 2 are all wealthy, particularly Wrexham, who will no doubt be bringing a number of Championship players in, on 10 grand a week.
We will have to be very good, to survive next season, and we must recruit cleverly, no more Piggots etc, who turn out no good.....every player must be good.
i suspect the top 10 will all be covered by 9 or 10 points by Boxing Day, and 54/55 points might be needed to survive

Birmingham will smash league 1…Wrexham will be up there along with Charlton, who can’t be as bad as this season..For Reading,Wigan see Charlton..yeah it’s gonna be tough..Peterborough,perennial playoffers..Will be up there if they don’t promoted..if we finish above Mansfield we’ll survive comfortably..If we get anywhere near the playoffs….Bonus!! 😎
