Running in - please pass. Situations vacant column along with ads for: draughtsman, typists and all it's types - shorthand and audio etc. The carbon paper, made the fingers go blue. Devils own job trying to get the third copy out, things improved once they invented the golf ball electric typewriter and all the different font types.

I once saw his BBC contract for his commentary on floodlight Rugby League.Remember all those games played in thick fog.Eddie Warring made the game watchable despite criticism of his light hearted commentary. Great character Eddie didn't mind his commentary either.

Smoking compartments on trains. Often had to stand in one on the commute into the City from Upminster and ended up with ash all over my trousers and shoes. Great start to the day.

Great character Eddie didn't mind his commentary either. Popularised Rugby League without doubt. I recall one game played on TV (Grandstand I think) in the depths of an icy winter when the scrum suddenly erupted with players on both sides throwing a flurry of punches and Waring commented in his inimitable style - “ Well, they’ve got to keep their hands warm somehow”! 😀😀👍
