I seem to remember that Baker's Arms, Leyton was good for this back in the good old days of electric buses!

I seem to remember that Baker's Arms, Leyton was good for this back in the good old days of electric buses! The Bakers Arms for some reason fills me with a warm glow .Maybe the girls I met as a lad of 16+when the baths were used as a dance hall. The memories that I left there are so heartwarming, the only one of the gang of friends boys and girls who is still alive.

Used to go there on a Saturday when out shopping with my Mum

I remember seeing live eels in the kitchen sink, until my mum cut their heads off. Claret everywhere. I think my brother caught them.

Redshank, you may find this humorous or maybe not, but I will give it a try. Long ago, I was a minimum wage page/runner in the very dangerous South Carolina Legislature. As part of the job, we would have to wait around the interior walls of the House of Representatives to run βerrandsβ for the representatives. The benefit was that we got to see the sausage being made, so to speak. One day, a bill was offered on the floor to outlaw common law marriage by a very pious religious representative (those two adjectives for him were just for show). Lots of biblical citations and high oratory pronouncements against fornication and this and that. Once that farce was over, a senior representative rose to the floor and took the microphone and began quietly defending common law marriage and built steam. He ended his speech with pointing and thunder in his upcountry southern drawl with βYou dumb asses are about to bastardize half my constituency!β I have never heard an explosion of laughter as hard or as long as that one in that chamber. Motion tabled.
