Shame he never sorted himself out when he had the chance at the club, what was wrong with him? I didn't think he would ever play football again.

Why didn't Orient give him a chance then? They were very quick to cancel his contract.

Alnwicks problems at Orient were surrounded in mystery all the club said at the time was Alnwick had personal problems which resulted in him being unable to train, no further comment will be made. He was at blame for Revells winner in the away league match. Very strange indeed.

I don't think he was to blame for Revells winner We have these things called defenders who didn't bother to close Revs down or even bother to get a foot in before he unleashed the shot and it was a good hit not many Goalkeepers would of got near it Whatever the problems he had at Orient he's obviously got over them and feels strong enough to play again so good luck to the fella

I have read the article, it explains everything. All O,s fans should read it. Best of luck to him even when playing against us.On the negative side Orient are totally useless at keeping their fans informed to what is going on in the club. All fans would have been totally sympathetic with Ben's situation and surely Orient should have given him some time before cancelling his contract. So much for the family friendly club!!!!

I am guessing Alnwick would have wanted to keep this private and like Lexi O said the deal was terminated by mutual consent because he didn't know when he would be able to return to football.

Do you not think That if Orient had offered to give him some time he would have gladly took it. after all the alternative was unemployment. Are you all naive to think that mutual consent always means that.

No not to me it does not. Why not say this was the problem then? Every fan and club would accept it as a family problem and allow leave/holiday as any employer would. If this is/was the problem, are we fans expected to accept a useless performance without any explanation?
Get real Alnwicks you get paid a good wage and we as fans want some response, either on the pitch or an explanation off the pitch.

Perhaps Orient did offer him that. At the time though i would have thought the health of his kid was the most important thing to him. I cannot see that Orient or any other employer would have been so nasty as to say off you go.

That's what i like about this forum, people can have differing opinions and it doesn't turn into a slanging match.

I find this this a bit harsh on Alnwick maybe his useless performance as you put it was down to him thinking about his sick child at the time so maybe just maybe the mistake was down to the coaching staff believing he could put in a decent performance on the day As far as I am concerned every human being deserves there privacy when needed regardless of status or salary etc As I said earlier in this thread good luck to the young man for his future in Football and also best wishes and good health to his child
