I hope for Kamala but will the American people vote in the first woman President and a blackwoman over an orange buffoon?

I lose sleep at the prospect of Trump having influence over anything.

I lose sleep at the prospect of Trump having influence over anything. It certainly is a worrying prospect. Hand to understand why anyone would vote for such a disreputable and discredited person.

Because of America actions in this world with their overseas policies it is absolutely essential for there to be a competent and intelligent president
Two candidates are needed for that - the issue is American politics appears to be like a Hollywood talk show and not reality and Trump is a showman not a political sensible person.
If I had his cv I would not even get through the HR department.

I hope for Kamala but will the American people vote in the first woman President and a blackwoman over an orange buffoon? Very very doubtful, Harris is even less popular than Comatose Joe, the problems on the U.S. southern border is largely of her making, she's completely, totally and utterly incompetent.

Indeed, it's been said many times before especially in 2020 but if Trump v Biden or now Trump v Harris how out of a population of over 330 million are they the best they can do?

Yet out of 330 million these three had what it takes to make it to the top in a hugely competitive arena. Like them or not they deserve respect for what they have achieved that 330 million - 3 could not.

Here’s my rare political take. I find my country’s politics to be disgusting, but not new to America or to human history. The idea that 99.99% of children born in America of any background have a chance to become President is a joke as is the idea that anything but raw based ambition motivates those who make it through to the top. We don’t have the choice to pick our candidates from scratch based on virtue or even intelligence. Our choices are picked for us by preposterously wealthy donors and they are chosen to represent something palatable to voters who know something is deeply wrong in our society.
We haven’t had a Lincoln type “pulled up by his on bootstraps” in well over a hundred and fifty years. We live in an Empire, much like the Roman one. It was built on conquest and war, with ideals yelled out to move the masses in the direction of the powerful group’s choosing. I would invite all those who want to understand American politics to watch a YouTube video of the faces of the Emperors of Rome. At some point plain strongmen and even children are being put in to occupy that position. They just don’t want us to see what is going on financially to us. We are no different. “If voting made any difference they wouldn’t let us do it.” Samuel Clemens
I vote, but I really think I make more of a difference just being a decent person in my work and my interactions with others.
*Yes, I know it’s unlikely Samuel Clemens wrote that quote or said it, but I’d like to think that if he was alive today he would.

George Carlin had a view on elections.. "this country was bought and paid for a long time ago". He had no confidence in the value of elections. Looking at a procession of old Etonians running the UK seems to be much the same thing.
Perhaps my age has brought out my cynicism.
