Not always redshank, many years ago went to Galle to watch Zimbabwe play Sri Lanka. Muralitharan on 799 wickets or some milestone, Zimbabwe on the ropes. Zimbabwe stonewalled, scored at a stupidly slow rate and zero wIckets fell. Lovely setting, utter tosh day. Staying at a lovely hotel some miles from the stadium, the train ride the highlight. A day by the pool more entertaining. The next day Zimbabwe collapsed and Murali got his record. Annoying.

Just watching the Test match from the Oval on TV and saw the new young England bowler being given his England cap.As said by Atherton this is quite new.I think it is a good thing and hope the new tradition stays.I believe his mum was in the circle having a little cry which was very charming. Sorry I can't give the young bowlers name. Josh Hull 6' 7" 20 years old Leicester fast bowler.Unusual for England to pick young raw players as our players take longer to mature into Test Match players.Other countries play them much younger, but this is a pick with the 2025 winter Ashes tour in mind.An excellent Idea if we are to have any hope of bringing back that tiny urn that is so sought after and so mind blowingly furiously fought over.

Must be the new thing. Sri Lanka had a nice mini presentation to a bowler prior to the first test. Presented his cap by a famous SL player. Then went on to make a 50. Will definitely be in Australia for the 25/26 Ashes in Perth (hopefully at my age). If all goes well a flight to Sydney/Melbourne or wherever to see another game. And Mrs dOh wants to come too. She’s only ever seen the 100s and T20 and really fancies a game or two is Aus, seeing our family in Perth as well. Win/win. Jeez she is even taking an interest in the current series. Never thought I’d see the day when she watched cricket on TV.

England going nicely at 5 runs/over....so the umpires have decided that the light is too bad to continue. Cricket shoots itself in the foot yet again.

Strange. Not a place I would choose to live but having toured by car much of the coast line and experienced New Year in the outback it has its charms. Perth is a very nice place, very American in the new bits, quite English in the older bits. But the climate too hot for me.

Interesting talk about a pink ball to allow games to continue in poor light. As for England, pushing on and a decent run rate. Tricky conditions.

Not for Sri Lanka it seems. They are doing exceptionally well. On for a good win. Puts Englands second innings into perspective.

Only found out a few seconds ago that cricket is to be included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as a T20 event for both men and women.

He was a chucker and no one can convince me otherwise. 100% agree about Muttiah Muralitharan and would think that with all the modern technology that he would not be allowed to bowl nowadays. First time I watched him on tv I thought his action, something wrong there. Sometimes his arm was fairly straight and sometimes he threw the ball with a really bent arm. I had an excellent frame by frame slow motion on my video and studied it and showed quite clearly how his action varied from ball to ball. Boycott and many other famous cricketers voiced concerns about his bowling action including Indian great Bishen Bedi ......''"If Murali doesn't chuck, then show me how to bowl," Bedi said in the interview. "How can you call it bowling? He (Muralitharan) has no followthrough and he makes no use of his shoulders. "Murali's arm doesn't go up at all. I have a picture of him bowling somewhere. He looks like a good javelin thrower." www.espncricinfo.com/story/muralitharan-s-action-compared-to-javelin-thrower-by-bishen-bedi-113902

I know at the time his action was analysed and he finally got the OK but that decision didn’t get the support of all by a long way. It would take a lot to convince me his action was within the laws. My view is that those in power took the soft option, not wanting to invite trouble. Easier to just say they couldn’t find fault than to justify where it lay and cause argument.

I played s bit of cricket in my younger days and was a decent bowler. For me it would be easier to bowl a ball naturally rather than run up and throw it.I can't see wh advantage would be gaiex by throwing
