Why on earth would anyone think it was a good idea to arrange a t20 final match england v australia at old Trafford.It was always going to be completely rained off.Absolutely clueless

Used to love on a Sunday the one day games. Me too. But cricket needs to earn to stay alive. Test matches help but more than this is needed. Games on the BBC just ain’t enough. The one day white ball game is the saviour of cricket. Whether the T20 or the 100s. This format is the lifeblood of the modern game and the very reason why County cricket survives. With Sky and the like willing to pay heavy for the privilege. Not for the purist for sure but without Sky money, the excitement of the white ball game, the razzmatazz, county cricket would be long gone. I love cricket, love watching live. But take it from me, the county game is the best thing for sending you to sleep. Still go to the odd day, nostalgia. But F.me it’s as boring as hell and the sparse crowds prove that. Skills from the short game help with the entertainment but bloody hell, not the stuff to get me to make much of an effort to go. Yet the white ball game, struggle to get tickets. Same game, same stadium, different format. The clues are there. But Auntie Beeb won’t/can’t or ITV won’t seriously compete with sky bar the odd game. If there is audience interest, Sky is there with the cheque book. |

BBC never ever gave full coverage of Test Matches on TV,Test Match Special did on radio. it has been on TV but only ever in a small way. Never a mainstream offering as you say. In reality how many would actually watch it for 5 days. The NowTV coverage of the Sri Lanka games was good, but as much as I enjoy the game I ducked in and out. It’s a tough watch when you lack the atmosphere of being there. Even that didn’t set the world alight by the looks of it. Test match special was really good. Sports commentators who knew their stuff and conveyed what was happening with skill, plus endless stories. And of course you can get on with other things whilst listening. |

Sad picture in the DT this morning;"Syd" Lawrence who has MND sitting in his wheelchair with the T20 Blast trophy in tears alongside the Gloucester captain who was also in tears.You would have to be really hard minded not to well up yourself on seeing that picture.Hang on in there Sid.

England retired their first innings at 823/7.
Pakistan lost their first wicket of their second innings with a first ball beauty by Woakes. Currently 9-1 trailing by 258 runs
In England first innings Root scored 262 and Brook 317 these two passed the greatest partnership which was previously held by Cowdrey and May in 1957.
Also never seen 6 bowlers all concede over 100 runs each!!

Tried everything Thor,hypnotism hypnotherapist,both expensive sessions,Goodmayes many times all types of anti -depressants which made things worse so could not take them any more.Now I know what it is and always think it will be gone in the morning.It is a beast though,somehow it dehumanizes you in the way it isolates you from the world. Writing always helps,I keep a diary and comment on here and on the online version of the DT,But it always wins for as long as it wants to,then thankfully it fades away without you even noticing it.
