About 39 and some change miles away(journey anything from 1hr.15minutes to 2hr.45 minutes driving). But with traffic at times it might as well be 100 miles..Train and tubes (90 minutes journey)so much better

Close to the centre of Maidstone. I occasionally drive, taking about an hour up to the Green Man, park, then a pleasant walk for 25 minutes. Taking train and tube is variable, between 90 minutes and 2-and-a-half hours, depending on the usual features of such public transport. On a sunny day I consider the 31 hours and 13 minutes walk.

Straightish line through London about 90:miles to the ground, the M25 route adds 20+ more, don’t do that any more. By car, train, tube, walk over 2 hours going. Nearly 2.5 hours coming home due to train times. Match day is 7.5 hours + overall. But that includes the SC club bar.

By car it’s one hour. By train it’s about 90 mins. Can’t do car any more. Did it for years but M25 traffic was a lottery and a couple of times didn’t make the game. Last season with train strikes, driver shortages, work on the line, tube breakdowns, even on one occasion a suicide (missing a game becomes insignificant in comparison) and months earlier a train crash in Salisbury, even taking the train became a pain. Mrs doh and I wasted half of our season tickets. Got too old for all that. Will go to the odd game but that’s it for me.

It takes me about 75 mins to get to the ground now. The mayor of London under Livingstone started it all off by slowing down the traffic at Blackwall tunnel, taking away the over flow lane when required.
Now a new tunnel is being built there and it's a shocker to get through. When its done we will be robbed to use either tunnel. Just like the QE2 Bridge which was set to be charged for 10 years to pay for itself, it did it in about 2 years then it was said we will collect to improvement maintenance, now it's there forever. Absolute anchors. To top it off we gave the company to the French.

We find it much more expensive getting the Maidstone West line to Strood and then the Stratford link. The other disadvantage is that quite often the Strood to Tonbridge train gets cancelled, delaying the return trip by an hour.
