Leyton Orient can confirm that Goalkeeper Sam Howes has joined Wealdstone on a two-month loan deal. Howes, 26, will rejoin the Stones on loan, who currently sit in 21st place in the National League. The goalkeeper has made eight appearances for the O's in all competitions since joining in the 2023 summer transfer window. All at the club wish Sam the very best during his loan spell away from Gaughan Group Stadium. www.leytonorient.com/news/2024/september/17/sam-howes-joins-wealdstone-on-loan/On 6 July 2023, Howes signed for Leyton Orient on a two-year contract.[12] On 8 August 2023, Howes made his debut for Leyton Orient, starting in a 2–0 EFL Cup loss against Plymouth Argyle. On 17 September 2024, Howes re-joined Wealdstone for the 4th time on loan. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Howes

26-30 the age when goalkeepers mature,be delighted if Sam goes that route.

26-30 the age when goalkeepers mature,be delighted if Sam goes that route. I like Sam and hope he comes good. He played really well away to Blackpool early last season, got his confidence up and helped Os gained their first league point, then he got dropped for the next game in order to put fit again loan keeper Brynn in the team. Never got much chance after that. He can perhaps get more regular games at Wealdstone which was his previous club before joining the Os. As a goal keeper you need to play regularly to get in form and get your confidence up. A reserve team league is what is needed for players who are not first team regulars, goalkeepers especially so. Pity something on the lines of the old reserve midweek league cant be started up again.

Probably costs too much to stage the games nowadays.Enjoyed season after season of the mid-week games and in earlier days The Football Combination which were very well attended.

We lived in Harlow so the long journey restricted us to only see the reserves now and again but I enjoyed it when my dad did take me and he could park his car near the ground in the 60s. Young players I enjoyed seeing included Harry Gregory and Terry Brisley !

Wish him all the best. Not worked out for him as I’m sure his excitement and hopes were at the start. Good luck Sam.

The NL is a good league to play football in,it has changed so much in recent years and some good money put into it.A pity the TNT contract was not extended for a few more years.Always enjoyed the NL when it was on TV.

Shame as I do feel he's the best keeper at the club Sam should not have been dropped after his excellent game against Blackpool. Must have affected his confidence to play so well then be dropped. The club seems to play loan players in front of their own even in that case when Sam had played so well and did not deserve to be dropped. Much of football form is about confidence, especially the goalkeeping position.

The Football Combination League used to cater for all players who needed game time or easing back from an injury

Shame as I do feel he's the best keeper at the club He certainly would have matured if given gametime, but we had to do all we can to keep this much longed for League 1 status, with the next dream on the list, promotion to the Championship for all those supporters who have never seen the O's in the second tier.
