Unbelievable! Surely they won’t be able to play there again. Ever again ?? There must be an issue with what is under the pitch, so it will probably be a long time. I am reading they are some kind of collapse or removal of an underlying layer of rocks that used to support the layer of material at the surface. Not even as if they can fill it with sand…

Probably from the 80s, hen they used to camp on the corner flag when they were winning.I went there once.

This is the site of the old greyhound stadium. Terribly sad. You wonder how much investment went into preparing the pitch and whether the whole surface is vulnerable. Hopefully they can sue the developer.

Hopefully they can sue the developer. Also the stands may be vulnerable. Never seen the like of it before. Apparently pitch alone would cost £1m to re-lay. Hard to see Wimbledon playing there again this season. May have to just play all home games away, unless Palace, Fulham or Brentford could accommodate them. Twickenham Stoop would be possible if RFU agreed.

Heard the cause was a local river burst its banks. Perhaps as its just the corner area of the pitch they can shorten the pitch like Colchester did pre season Obviously serious probs with various rooms flooded too at the stadium Is its structure sound I wonder. Hope clubs rally round to help them

A shame as they built the club from nothing and finally got the dream come true to move back to Plough Lane.A remarkable feat from the fans of the club.

Not a sinkhole, but subsidence from a Womble burrow.

Perhaps it's sabotage at the hands of the Architect and ground Surveyor who are alleged ardent MK Don's supporters. One way of getting revenge as the breakaway club were labelled Traitors by Wimbledon FC fans.😎
