Sink hole appeared in a local road. Water pipe had ruptured under the surface and gradually the surrounding soil was washed away. Repaired, but it took 3 months. Unlikely to be mining related, just wonder what the site was used for before being a greyhound stadium. If the land has ever been industrial or landfill in any way, they could be in real trouble.

Doesn’t sound good if the site was former marshland.

There must be an issue with what is under the pitch, so it will probably be a long time. I am reading they are some kind of collapse or removal of an underlying layer of rocks that used to support the layer of material at the surface. Not even as if they can fill it with sand… Think Uncle Bulgaria needs to look into this.

I reckon anyone can look into it. It's a bloody big hole! This 'ere 'ole ain't gonna dissappear over night. Dons may have to plead with some non league neighbours to ground share till end season making it difficult to mount a promotion challendge of any sort. May even make them relegation candidates.

I did read they tried to get another ground but none could do it in such a short time.Wonder if they could play again in the stadium they vacated. Was it Kingsmeadow and who owns it.

Heard the cause was a local river burst its banks. Perhaps as its just the corner area of the pitch they can shorten the pitch like Colchester did pre season Obviously serious probs with various rooms flooded too at the stadium Is its structure sound I wonder. Hope clubs rally round to help them I got an old gheto blaster, if that helps?
