Nothing to do with the comments on this forum in my case - simply no longer prepared to endure 3 plus hours on weekday public transport ( longer in the event of bus replacement services) and end up paying in excess of £75.00 and getting home at gone 11.30 pm to watch something I can watch at home on Sky Sports in comfort. No contest I’m afraid as far as Tuesday night games are concerned.😟 Fair comment as my journey and cost is very simple. Some near me attend every match and travel as far with the same hours of getting home.Sky sports does not get anywhere near the feeling of matchday and attending where you watch all of the action and not a camera lens view.In the case of sky + the creaking picture quality and sound issues make it unwatchable. A match or player review taken from a TV perspective is not ever likely to be the same review if you see the actual match. No perspective on television. I hear what you say but I’ve made my decision and will be sticking to it.👍

Yet another poor attendance at Brizzy on Tuesday ,so many empty seats and lack of atmosphere and that's not the first time . Surely that must be an end to all the speculation about a newer ,bigger stadium . Seems like there is absolutely no appetite from the local population to support Orient . I am a local and I watched it on TV. I don't think many people will be heading to Brisbane Road for midweek fixtures nor those early on Saturday. The cost is a big factor. Last season I went to Orient v Lincoln (restaged) as it was £10. I even had a drink or two. I went to Os V Arsenal U21 because it was £10 (£5 under 25s) so that cost £25, and three of us went to Brentford for £30. I paid £64 for 2 tickets for Os V Birmingham. Will probably do likewise for Os V Charlton, though it was just £25 each at The Valley. I suspect future midweeks will have lower attendances as not only are Os on TV, but there will be Champions League and Premier League games on TV on same night. Football is getting more and more expensive. I can afford a dozen games a season but when it it is on TV, I will save my £30 for another game. All good comments,These are peculiar times I must admit. Also one has to take into account age.It is not diminishing my mind, just my mobility,it is very painful for me to go to Brisbane Road, but the pain is a constant and it might as well be at Orient as at home.Getting a phone call from the pain clinic this afternoon, hope the can give some sort of help.

I too have noticed that there is a younger group of supporters these days, which means the club’s efforts to bring in new supporters must be working to a degree. At one stage we seemed to be struggling to get 4500 fans. In our 2013/14 season when we got to the playoffs, a Saturday’s home attendance against the Posh was 6717, so not much different to Tuesday’s figure. So we have got better, but need to continue to build. From previous comments most of the more active boarders are retired, and quite a few of us have moved away from the ground, so we are not representative of the fan that the club wants to attract. Local youth will be the lifeblood of this club going forward and appealing to them when faced with competition from several PL clubs, countless other sports and opportunities that attract youngsters away from us is tough. All that said, I am confident that with the current set up that youngsters will get caught up in the enthusiasm of the ride. Might even have persuaded my grandson it’s better than supporting Arsenal. He’ll be at his third home game Saturday. Come on you O’s

Well done for taking your grandson to Orient, the best way to get the young involved.Whenever youngsters get free tickets,I do my best to welcome them and tell what an experience matchday at Leyton Orient is and hope they return.

Sky is having an impact, no doubt about it.
For me I coach on a Tuesday so I can't make every game now that so many are changing. This Tues whilst we have 5 season tickets, none of us went, that means lost food and drinks sales, my kids always want something in the shop so again lost sales. We spend a fortune at the club so all that money will now not be spent.
If I didn't coach, it wouldn't matter to me and I'd be there every game. Distance does not bother me nor does the cost of anything.
If I'm lucky I'll catch some of the game on sky. Personally I can't stand sky and don't like watching on TV and I will pick and choose games i watch on TV (premier league etc) as its not the same as bring there live in the moment.
Once I finish with kids football, I'm gonna go back to the semi pro game and find out how good I really am. So Tues will remain out of bounds for me still unfortunately, unless I don't follow it through of course.

I remember one Friday night many years ago,we played Halifax at home and it was absolutely freezing..It was such a crap game that I forgot we won 1-0,after scoring really early..The crowd? 1144(or around that figure)..lowest crowd for a league game at Brissy thst I’ve attended..I’m still enjoying my commuting to home games..But the urge to stay at home and watch on Sky is becoming stronger!!! Was it not against preston and bloke on crutches came on pitch I’m almost certain it was Halifax…But could be wrong

Had the chance to watch streaming for a long time, but went to games despite cost and travel.. Absolutely nothing beats watching live football no matter the level. The stats show without doubt the numbers going to games continue to increase and that is despite legal and illegal streaming. Conclusion, TV football, far from harming the game is adding the attraction. See it on tv, want to see live. but the offering has to be right. People want, in my opinion, a good experience. It has so much more to offer than sitting in front of a TV.
Who wants to listen to a stream when you can go to a live gig. You can buy a Taylor Swift album yet people pay stacks for the real thing. Same for any and every concert. Even tributes sell out. Get the offering right, it works. Live football is alive and well and coping with the stream invasion. But needs to be attractive.

I have literally no idea! I am a UEFA B coach who could go higher, but don’t need to at present or more truthfully can’t be bothered at my age! I do have an offer to do it now, but I’ve said no as I want to finish my team before giving my all to a new challenge which will become all encompassing. It will probably be the 27 season when I move over. I’d be looking at the lowest isthmian league to start out or a team from the Kent prem which wants to progress. Lots of time to work it out.

Good on you Thor. People who love the game and after playing give something back to the new generations coming through. Whether it’s a lot as in your case or a little as in mine, it’s what keeps football ticking over at the grass roots level. Giving of your time matters.

I wonder how many UK residents stream the games using a VPN to pretend they are overseas..Its all very easy now and legitimized through advertising to mask where you are coming from..Like most on here, if I was still in Ldn I would go to all/most home games. I love the streaming service but given I am 9-11 hrs ahead, to put the tin hat on it, an on-demand feature would be ace...Getting a bit old now and waking up at 2am for a 3pm kick off and 4.45am for a 7.45pm kick off is playing tucking me up a bit!

Thanks Thor - I did know that, but as an adrenaline junkie who needs the full throttle unbridled sheer damn event of watching the O's live and knowing that I couldn't click past enough news items on the O's websites with my eyes closed to go into the game without knowing the result, I simply must watch the game live (albeit with a 25-30 second time lag).... Come on FantasticO's!

Interesting stuff today. Apart from Leyton being voted one of the coolest places in the world to live, close to London, parks, professional football and affordable. Yup we get a mention.
And premier league attendance figures. Rounded only one club at 96% falls below 98% full. Yet so many are on Sky. Pubs, clubs, homes. Saturation in fact. Yet attendance not affected. if grounds were bigger, more people would go despite the obscene cost.
Get the offering right and people will come, TV or not. Perhaps not to these levels in the EFL but to a decent enough level. Of course some will stop for a variety of reasons. Cost, distance, other stuff to do, poor facilities, poor football. An endless list. But the main point. Get the offering right and people will come. Why I don’t completely buy the TV killing attendance stuff fully. It affects attendance to a degree, of course it does. But it can also generate interest.
Get the attractiveness right. For us, Brisbane Road will never be that! In my opinion people want better, the club are trying to provide that by digging deep. Fair play. But it’s never goin to be great is it.

Well, I’m not so sure anymore because to my brother-in-law’s disgust I cheered when Orient scored against Arsenal U21s the othr week and didn’t react to either Arsenal goal. I have enjoyed the last few years at Orient. I get tickets for away games, invade the pitch when the Os win things and even had a trip to Wembley. Now if they can just get back to playing a few more games at Saturday 3pm.

Excellent thread, all I know is I'd never forgive myself if I missed the Northampton game last year for instance. But I am a youngster so will go to all of them!
I wonder if the increased attendance from reduced prices on a weekday would be worth it for the club. One thing a near full house does do is improve the matchday experience for all.

I think the issue is that these days local kids would rather support say, Barcelona than a mid table prem outfit, let alone a lower league team. Sky has brought these overseas teams into our living rooms each week and it’s diluting the domestic cup competitions, along with the lower league offering. Youngsters these days who don’t support one of the top 5 or 6, would far rather spend their money on a Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich top and a TV subscription to watch these sides. There’s far more competition for your money these days. All that said, the club has done incredibly well to attract the fans and maintain the attendances by and large. Watching the O’s from the mid seventies, it’s only very recently that attracting a crowd of five thousand would be thought of as disappointing.
