I often have a laugh at some of the comments in the DT online, some sound like the policeman who said good moaning and suchlike, especially as they are serious comments. On you tube this morning from the BBC vault I saw Robert Robinson reply to a letter from a person who complained of how Bill and Ben speaking is bad for the children. He then showed Peter Hawkins the voice of Bill and Ben being interviewed by Professor Stanley Unwin. Two grown up men having a serious conversation both speaking utter gibberish,English eccentricity at its best.Absolutely hilarious, laughed like Brian Blessed for quite a while.

I can type about 60 words a minute and donβt need to look at the keyboard. For some strange reason I quite often type hte for the. I do it quite a lot as well. Not sure why though. Thats pretty quick Thor. Impressive. Back in the day I wrote a computer program for internal staff. Measured speed and accuracy, producing output for review. It was able to demonstrate very well the value of typing at a slower pace to increase accuracy, the primary role of the program. some people quick and accurate. Others encouraged to slow down. Became a regular game for us keyboard users, only 100% accuracy counted when looking for the fastest and best. Even though a bit of fun, periodic competition took over, people enjoyed going for top spots and joking with those who failed. Pleasing because fun and competition indirectly improved quality and raised awareness. Sadly I never made top spot. Always accurate, rarely fast. 40/50 words (four letters = 1 word) and always half an eye on the keyboard. A two finger on each hand typist. Mrs doh who did secretarial work, shorthand etc for a while was very fast, used both hands and never looked at the keyboard. Beyond me, a skill I could never achieve despite a lifetime of keyboard use.

I learned to touch type in the Royal Signals, still show off sometimes and see how correct the speed typing is.But in general it is the four finger symphony, then correct.
