Is it the Manager who is the problem or the Players. He's telling them what they should be doing and they're not listening.

They are listening of that there is no doubt. Are they capable of delivering what he is asking? Some are, some maybe not.

Poor players… Simply not good enough for the way Ritchie wants them to play.. Or if they are they sure aren’t showing it.Something has to change. We’re on a downward spiral.Either that or don’t play players in posithey are not comfortable with

Doesn’t appear to be working out terribly well so far does it?

How did Brian Clough achieve so much success he was not bound up to all the tactical theories we keep hearing
It was simple give the ball to the best players and let them use their skill moving in a direction of the oppositions net.
He kept everything very simple the players knew what they had to do by instinct

He kept everything very simple the players knew what they had to do by instinct Back then the game was so much simpler wasn't it, none of this nonsense with 'Sports Science', no overthinking tactics, no being more worried about the opposition than your own team, just gave simple instructions and let them get on with it. I recall Justin Edinburgh saying when he first joined the O's that you play to the players strengths rather than trying to install the way you want the game to be played. There are plenty of Managers out there that do the exact opposite and then wonder why they end up looking for work.

Sometimes in his interviews he confuses me as to his tactics. I don’t think he is getting his tactics over to the youngsters.

And that is the heart of the matter Vinny. The Board’s well intentioned long term focus for the club is out of kilter with the fans ( and I suspect RW’s) short term ambitions and as a result, the funding provided for recruitment this season is proving to be inadequate

There is a thought in Neuro Linguistic Programming that communication issues should not be considered the fault of those that are listening to the message but those giving it. So if the message is not sinking in, don’t just repeat it or say it louder, try changing the way the message is given. That is man management. So if any players don’t fully understand their duties, don’t blame them.
A prime example being JE turning a group of players from relegation fodder to champions. They didn’t suddenly become better players, just those that understood what was being asked of them and that was something judged by the manager within their capabilities.
In other words, don’t blame the players.
We have some decent players who are not performing and others who at this time are not capable of doing what is being asked of them. Their fault ? Don’t think so.

Don’t think so. RW turned a team who were going down to the national league into champions.Rw is not the problem it's a long season and we're in a rut at moment but i trust RW to get it right And if you recall from his early videos he too employed established management tools to engage the players. Straight out of the text book. When you listen to him talk his style, whether by training or natural ability also follow established communication lines. Good stuff. Gets my vote. It works. Mostly. But, and for me the fly in the ointment, is this. On many occasions he has talked of the players being too slow at times to get the ball forward. He is right. Yet it still happens. Who can forget his tetchy reaction to just this question. Hit a nerve. He talks about it frequently, yet it doesn’t change. What is the reason? Telling players to move the ball quicker Just ain’t working. The message ain’t getting through. Why? What is it in the makeup of the team that prevents it? Players ability? Nonsense. Utter nonsense. just as easy to kick the ball forward as backward. Every one of our players can do that. Jeez even I can do that. It’s more than that. Is he asking them to do something that our system just doesn’t facilitate. No movement in the players, no available outlets? Can’t move forward quicker if there nobody there to take the ball. So players often do the only thing that is sensible, go backwards. So no, it’s not the players. We are playing a system that is geared to going backwards and no amount of telling them will change that. You could tell me to go to my local shops quicker, endlessly, loudly etc but if I am not given a vehicle to make it happen, it won’t. The message needs spreading to those who can facilitate it And that is not just the players.

The negative outcome of no points on the first four games due to partly individual mistakes is the caustic cause of the current situation
It’s simple if we had a few more points up the league we would be plodding along each week with oscillation of win draw lose and nothing would be spoken as it is now
We have players “excellent “ one week Next week same players “ not good enough “
The players are either good enough or not good enough irrespective of wether we win or lose.
With respect, to RW his post match interviews are not adding any value in fact they are contributing to the negative perception of fans and probably not assisting his bonding with players - imagine going into work on a Monday having been told publicly you are not good enough - the type of person I am I would tell that person where to go and end up either sacked for gross misconduct or being asked to develop my views to HR
Can Nigel please ask for a different type of summary by RW or just cancel further post match interviews- they are counter productive

Is Kelman or Agyie missing a simple chance less worse than a keeper making a mistake or the defence allowing a shot in the first place. If the keeper is not good enough, maybe look at those who brought him in. Succeed or fail as a group all in it together. The core group of players who play in my opinion are good enough. The fringe players are a mix of not good enough yet or not fit enough yet. As a first 11 in general we are ok, as a squad we are not good enough. Richie is stripped of realistic options and there is precious little competition for places. He has one hand tied behind his back. As for all the preseason talk about how good league 1 was going to be, I’ve not noticed any great overall improvement in quality bar Birmingham.
