Here's the full statement: I have resigned from the board of #LOFC, on the request of the Club's owner.
On Monday afternoon I was surprised to receive an email from Alessandro Angelieri, the Chief Executive of Leyton Orient, asking me to resign from the board of directors.
The reason I was given for this request is that the Club’s owner, Francesco Becchetti, ‘would prefer that the board of directors is kept as small as possible’.
During and since the takeover, I had been happy and willing to continue serving as a director to assist the new staff with their integration in to the Club and to provide an element of continuity from the previous regime, as agreed with the new owner.
However, to my disappointment, the position has now changed and as requested, I submitted my resignation on Tuesday afternoon, effective immediately.
Unfortunately, this situation also brings about my resignation from the Football League board, to which I was appointed only in June as a League One club representative.
It was in March 2006 when Barry Hearn asked me if I’d like to be the Chief Executive of the Football Club, five years after I had begun working there, and it was a position I served with dedication and pride from start to finish. We came so close to achieving the unthinkable and I have some wonderful memories that will live with me forever. We left the Club in great shape, on and off the pitch and we did our best for it in every way.
I wish the Club, its hard working staff and players and wonderfully loyal fans every success and thank everyone who has supported and helped me over the years.
Up the O’s
Matt Porter October 1 2014
I wonder what stroke Becchetti will pull next? He's gutting the club piece by piece.

Not sure what the new owners are thinking about. Why on earth ask someone who only has the best interests of the club at heart to resign from the board, at a time when you'd think that they would wish to keep the fans, players and everyone connected with the club on-side.
Seems a bizarre move to me.

Perhaps he's got plans that he knows people will oppose so he's moving out potential 'problems' now? If I was of a suspicious nature I would say that he's a front for West Ham to cripple us!

Looks like all connections with the previous regime are being severed. It's a shame as Porter could have played a useful role on the communications front, there being little else in place in that regard. I wonder where we're all heading. We're a small club with a very small fan base that is capable of putting up little in the way of opposition. However, a siege mentality seems to be developing among the management. Of course, plotting and conspiring is right up the Italian street though.

Seems a bizarre move to me. Firstly I think that losing Matt is a real shame 100% committed to the O's as fan and CEO a nicer bloke you would never meet. However Matt publicly (through twitter) voiced his support for Russell Slade last week along with Barry Hearn and so I guess that has caused FB to react in this way, he was only on the board as an interim measure to allow a smooth progression during the aftermath of the take over so I guess it's sooner rather than later but that's a lot of knowledge and experience walking out the door and morale within the staff I am led to believe is at rock bottom so not good.
The last few weeks have been an utter farce really the club have had a number of lows during my lifetime but always you felt everyone was pulling in the same direction......until now. FB and his merry men seem to be on a mission to destabilise and deconstruct our club.
IMHO Fans are not going to put up with this for long before they vote with their feet a real shame after the feel good factor of last season.

Becchetti owns the club and wants a complete break from the old regime. He is a extremely successful businessman he is by all accounts a billionaire, we must give the Italians time. It's not going to be little old Orient anymore, we are in for a roller coaster of emotions put your seat belt on and enjoy the ride.

Good piece in the Epping Forest Guardian about the lack of communication at the club with both the media and supporters.

Good piece in the Epping Forest Guardian about the lack of communication at the club with both the media and supporters. I've said this from the start Bechetti has not addressed the fans at all since he took over love or hate him at least Hearn kept the supporters in the loop of what was going on its a shame MP has had to resign seems to be more of a forced resignation though enjoy the ride? What are you on crusade are you Bechettis love child there's nothing to enjoy at the club at the moment it's a f**king shambles

I do trust Bechetti on this one. Matt may have been a nice guy but his repeated stance on the side of Slade made his position untenable in the new look Leyton Orient. Do not fight the future, let's embrace it and see where this whirlwind rollercoaster ride takes Orient! (Hopefully not the Conference by the way)

Official Statement on Club Website: Arrivaderci PorterQuote:
The Leyton Orient owner and board of directors would to like to sincerely thank Matt Porter for his cooperation and willingness to stay on the board of the club during the transition period between the old and new regimes. The agreement was limited to this period which has now terminated. Mr Porter has therefore left the board and we wish him great success in his career at Matchroom. We also trust that Mr. Porter will remain a big Orient fan going forwards.Read more at www.leytonorient.com/news/article/porter-statement-11014-1983079.aspx#BWIU8XmSdyCajg7x.99

(Hopefully not the Conference by the way) Yes Kbola since the takeover we are in a period of transition.the chairman wants his own men in .the same happened when hearn took over .got rid of sitton and turner and over a period of time .kicked out all the old board of directors and appointed his own men .the same is happening again .the future holds no terrors for us.the times are a changing at Brisbane rd .

Check at Companies house shows that on 1.10.14 Matt Porter terminated as Director. 1.10.14 Alessandro Angelieri appointed as a Director.
Therefore Angelieri was acting as CEO in name although he had not been appointed to the Board until Porter resigned ?
Directors of Leyton Orient Football club now: Frencesco Becchetti Alessandro Mino Liliana Condomitti Alessandro Angelieri Luca Formica (Accountant)

A daft point I know but our owner has his own tv station and is apparently doing a football reality show at the orient about two young italian players trying to earn a professional contract What if his real agenda is get orient to the championship so that he can promote their games on his channel. If so then the fan base would be irrelevant

His TV station is in Albania. I doubt that Leyton Orient would be of much interest.

I doubt if Formica is his real name. Sounds like a cover.
