King Kev's interview:
Be great to see him back, but given his age, his eroding stamina even when 100% fit, what will be expected from him? I've seen him lift the squad just for being on the pitch, but is the current situation beyond even his ability to kickstart the long- awaited #RiseAgain

I think that is a spot on assessment of both the concerns about him but also what he still brings

We wont get much out of Lisbie, not match fit so it will take time but even when he is fit expect only a 20min burst and usually, if on the field for the last 15mins, it's too late to affect the game for us.

I'd like to differ from that view. Kevin has some quality, particularly when it comes to holding on the the ball when we are under the cosh. Sure, he's older, he'll be slower, I agree. But if we have the cash to do it, having Lisbie on the bench for specific situations can be a good value. I do agree, if we had to make every penny count, then perhaps his inclusion would be too expensive, but we don't. I feel the same about Shaun, He'll not normally make the starting eleven but, if we can afford it, having his special talent on the bench can be advantageous.

I would love to see him back as I think he's an intelligent player...as my old mother-in-law used to say - "There's no point in getting older if you don't get artful with it!" Last year it was a standard tactic that we'd get 60-70 minutes from Kev then Battman would come on until the final whistle, and that worked. Trouble is we never deviated from this and all the other teams knew it and so were ready for it, which is why the last portion of the season saw us really start to struggle. Slade was great at getting the most from his players, but tactically he turned into a bald one-trick-pony. With all the new signings whether contract or loan, will there still be a place in the squad for Lisbie when for some reason we've bulked-up on strikers when a couple of quality defenders and midfielders would serve us much better.

We seemed to have"baulked up" on one type of striker. The direction the club are heading is for the" hoof it to him " type of striker I'm afraid.

There was less of the hoof it mentality on Saturday. Fair enough we had a big man up front in Plasmati but he has great feet so we need to abuse the talent he has. Don't write him off. He linked up well with wright who also looked good.

Yeah, I had family at the match and they told me that despite the missed chance of a home win, most of the people came away feeling far more optimistic than they had in ages.

I live in Croatia where our TV is bursting at the seams with Italian and German football. Lately, because of events at Brisbane Road and my own ill-health, I've taken a longer look at Serie A and B. I don't find it exciting because everyone with the ball is immediately and aggressively challenged. Consequently, everyone plays like Prlo, they are very comfortable on the ball, have the perfect first touch and first movement and, for the most part, you can't get the ball off of them. This doesn't make for free flowing end-to-end football but there is no hoof ball anywhere to be seen. If this is the direction LOFC are going then there will no place for the likes of Bartley or Clarke. Italian fans would regard them as "English" and would not be impressed.
