Football league to press for safe standingQuote: a significant proportion of football supporters want to stand and many football clubs are happy to give them that choice. Standing not only boosts capacity but promotes lower ticket prices and improves the atmosphere at matches. We hope to implement this sooner rather than later.

I agree. I like standing. In fact I think sitting is wrong and Orient and other clubs should strictly enforce and eject any fans found persistantly sitting at football matches unless they are disabled of course.

I wonder how much greater could be Brisbane Road's capacity, for example, half the east stand were to be converted into a safe standing area.

Possible new design for the easy stand if it ever gets revamped? Lower tier standing, upper tier seating?

Possible new design for the easy stand if it ever gets revamped? Lower tier standing, upper tier seating? Sounds good to me. Cheap standing would be great at any level. Next: beer allowed on the terraces.

I like sitting except when we score. Me to That's fine, though. No-one's talking about banning sitting. This is about re-introducing standing areas. It's great news.

definitely should turn the east side back to how it use to be! Stick the away fans in the north end, we could have that stand rocking once again

Good news though how many clubs have the money to make this happen. I've always thought that it was abit of a knee jerk reaction making all seater stadiums, when I'm sure lessons after Hillsborough would have been learnt.

I am too young for the old terraces in all leagues but I have stood at Dagenham and Redbridge and it was great fun.

Never minded standing, it was the lack of any roof over the north terrace that made it a miserable experience when it was p*ssing down and windy.
Seem to remember the east stand having standing in front of the seated area, or is my mind playing tricks on me? Anyway, anything to increase the capacity and atmosphere would be welcome IMO.

No you are right, the East stand enclosure as it was known was standing. I think it says the first leg of the play off semi final against Rotherham where I was standing at the north end of the East stand and you physically couldn't see what was happening at the south end.

I used to stand in the east stand enclosure at the south end. As you say, if some wing play was going on at the north end (or a corner), you couldn't see it but waited to see if a cross would come in or listen to the groan from that part of the stadium which denoted that it wasn't coming.
