I understand why Josh went but l can't see how his development has been served by never getting first team games. Nobody knows if he could have made it in league two let alone higher.

The step up into the Football League was always going to be a real test of exactly how good they really are. Would seem Bonne has made the step up with relative ease and unsurprisingly has become a bit of a fans favourite at Charlton (not difficult as puts plenty of effort in). However, Koroma has struggled with the transition and do wonder if the main reason is due to moving up north and being away from friends and family.

I don't know that Koroma has struggled badly with the transition, not more than you'd expect anyway with someone like Josh who's not much more than a kid really. As far as I can gather he is very highly rated by the Cowleys, and above all probably needs just toughening up.
Bonne seems to have spent a long time on the injury list, quite a contrast with his time with us when he played week in and week out for two seasons virtually without a break.

Macca came on as sub for Charlton on Saturday and set up the winner. He has been injured for the last few games but is back in contention now.

Agree e.g ''However, Koroma has struggled with the transition and do wonder if the main reason is due to moving up north and being away from friends and family.'' Funnily enough, i said much the same thing might well happen on the other forum at the time of his transfer to Huddersfield............but no one agreed with me ! He is only a young lad and would have been far better staying near to his friends and relatives and the places that he is used to and if he HAD to move, a club in or around London would have been a much better move for him.

We all like to see our players do well when they leave.I think he will make it.If not, then I am sure most O's fans would welcome his return.

I wonder where we would be in the league if Bonne had stayed.
Some people say that one player doesn't make a team. I don't know about that.

Well there's a certain few on the other board that just like to try and wind others up, even if it's just to keep their post count up. All very sad.

Im more inclined to think he would also struggle with the formation we play. Purely going by memory here, but seemed more free scoring last season when we played 4-4-2,opposed to when we changed to 3-5-2. Saying that Bonne surely has a better goalscoring record than our current forward line.

Bonne was a regular starter and scorer before he was injured but as said above returned last weekend. Koroma failed to make an impression at Huddersfield and has been sent out on loan to Rotherham until the end of the season. He's failed to make a start for them and is either an unused sub or makes a fleeting appearance off the bench. Of the two Macca has definitely made the biggest impact.

In my opinion, for his football development, I think Josh would have been better to have stayed with us another year and got regular first team football in league two, to further enhance his growing reputation. Obviously the deal on the table from Huddersfield, was too good for Josh and his agent to turn down and I can understand that. Still think he will come good and I guess he needs to be patient and keep learning. My worry would be the lack of game time, he is currently getting in competitive league football. Obviously was signed by Huddersfield as one for the future, so watch this space, I guess.

The way we've struggled this season I don't think Koroma would have furthered his career at the bottom of league 2. In fact, I think he could easily have lost his way. He's in a stronger playing environment now, and while he's on the periphery he's not out in the cold.
