Does any one know if there a smoking area at the Tech? I have been in there but being a non smoker never noticed. Tomorrow I am taking a mate who is a heavy smoker and drinker.

If so the bouncers will not let you stand there and smoke on match days.

Every pub has to provide an area for smokers by law. I like how you say your friend is a heavy smoker and drinker. Anything else you want to tell us? Is he a degenerate gambler as well?

To answer both above: My friend is a sportsman, gambler and drinker very much like me, except I do not smoke.
Last time, which was I think may have been the Peterborough match, as I was going in the Tech. the 2 bouncers were involved in a heated dispute with two elderly guys who were smoking in the doorway. I never got involved and not sure what the aggro was about but just thought it was cos they were smoking. I know no more. I am going to phone the Tech and ask.

I like the Tech, nice ambiance, good choices of beer and although I've not tried eating there, the food at it's sister pub in Forest Gate is very nice. Never elbowed my way in on a match day though. I've been to the Coach and Horses but only because that's where Blues Jam happens on a Wednesday evening. The bar is dire and the pub appears to have been completely forgotten about by whoever owns it. The Supporters Club ticks all the alcohol boxes and has a nice feel to the place - I do wish I knew a few people in there though! My match day buddy rarely drinks so my normal pre-match drinking amounts to a coffee in the cafe Mondial....I have never found how early I need to turn up to squeeze into the Royal

I can confirm then that the Leyton Tech are breaking the law. I went there today with my mate. We were told to go outside in the street to smoke but leave drinks inside. Being a non smoker I like the place.

Well there you go. They provided the street for you to smoke in.
I personally wouldn't go there because I don't trust a pub with bouncers outside and the one today looked like a pr#ck. I watched as some police officers walked past and he gave them some sign like he was part of their team. They ignored him but he still looked smug.

Agree, I usually avoid pubs with bouncers. When we arrived about 1.30 there were not any bouncers on the door and I have to say the serving staff in the Tech are very friendly and helpful. I took my friend then to the TJS bar but warned him no smoking. He said it was the best stadium bar he had visited. Very impressed with TV and carpet and chilled white wine in an ice bucket. Good day.
