I knew Dave Courtney around 2008 when I dating a friend of his.I visited his house in Plumstead Camelot Castle it was called and was full of photos of him with the who's who of gangsters.I found him funny and charming every time i saw him and some of his stories were quite funny . I'm reading that he shot himself didn't think he would be the sort of person to do that but who knows what's going on in people's lives.I would imagine there are some that would say good riddance and he was a thug but that was not the man i knew.Rest in peace |

This makes me think of the Richard Zednik incident of the Florida Panthers in the late 2000’s. He was miraculously saved by the treating physicians. I won’t go into the details but it is hard to forget. It wasn’t even a hard collision or anything like that for Zednik. Just a basic ordinary kind of play. Scary stuff. |

orientsc - is this making your news over there. This news article keeps popping up all over the place today and I saw a twitter feed. Without notice, the twitter feed had a short loop of the collision (just the point of contact and no more). I'm shocked. Absolutely wreckless. So tragic.

Without notice, the twitter feed had a short loop of the collision (just the point of contact and no more). I'm shocked. Absolutely wreckless. So tragic. Yes it’s been widely reported here. We have a NHL LA Kings farm team here and they sent condolences and our local news stations covered it as well as did the National and International News such as CNN. It was respectful on the regular news but of course twitter is a back alley in lots of ways. I did see through news coverage that the English Hockey league is now requiring neck guards. It won’t happen here, but I think that is an obviously necessary safety measure. A young fan was killed at a Columbus Blue Jackets NHL game years ago by a ricocheted puck, and as a result all arenas have betting to prevent that risk. Football is my love, but in person hockey is very fun to watch and I was glad when the nets went in to make it safer. I hope they make it safer for the players with the neck guards here but we shall see. |
