So what did Kissinger do wrong then? to Deserve that postscript I’m just saying that he is a controversial figure who inspires heated debate. He is likely the most powerful person in the world in the latter half of the twentieth century. He inspires strong feelings in some both here and abroad. I will say that there have been few people with cold indifference to the most vulnerable people on the planet. I would encourage everyone to read a little about it him. He has affected us all, for better or ill. I’m here as a guest of a good group of people, and I have no ill intentions, billericayo. I do appreciate your sentiments. I think this would set your mind at ease about the departed. Here is what a New York Times author said in a review of a book about Kissinger’s life: “ When the nefarious Cardinal Richelieu died in 1642, Pope Urban VIII is said to have declared: “If there is a God, the Cardinal de Richelieu will have much to answer for. If not … well, he had a successful life.” Henry Kissinger likes that anecdote. He cites it in his writings.” As for me, I’m hoping for a win against Derby County. Cheers. I think evil could be applied against this individual. I am with you OSC

Back to Kissinger for a moment... His methods appealed to me as a young man who thought JFDI was the way to achieve things but, as l matured, l learnt that simple answers get votes but on the backs of the mainly innocent. His critics view him as a ruthless and unapologetic pragmatist who prioritized power and expediency over human rights and ethical principles. They argue that his actions caused immense suffering and instability, particularly in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Chile. Henry Kissinger's legacy is a complex one marked by both great achievements and profound controversies. His role in shaping American foreign policy and his impact on the world stage continue to be debated and analyzed. His "Realpolitik" resulted in rivers of blood.
OSC put it more diplomatically but his reluctance to eulogise Kissinger is well founded.

My memories of Kissinger are vague. So I’ve taken your advice and started doing some reading. He certainly divides opinion. From a Nobel Peace prize winner to accusations of Americas worst mass murderer. That is some legacy. Going to be hard to form a view, depends on what you read. Any suggestions on a balanced publication would be useful if there is such a thing.

Any suggestions on a balanced publication would be useful if there is such a thing. I think Walter Issacson’s biography is balanced based on what is known to scholars and the public now. I love history, but it’s a complex field and it often takes substantial time for a true informed and balanced view to develop.

Wasn't controversial over hear, We had no reason to listen to a Yank, he sank out of sight. Again with the words of a Pope, We would of not have been interested or even listened, He's a Catholic and we are Church of England, I predicted we would lose three nil the day before the game. I doubt we will score before Christmas, same as my love life actually

RIP Shirley Ann Field 87. Attractive and talented actress who was born in Forest Gate and starred alongside Albert Finley in “ Saturday Night & Sunday Morning” - still one of the best British films ever made in my view.
