Low Vitamin D levels in darker skin people. Can take longer to get rid of the virus. I've done months of research on this from reputable sources. I've been taking 75 mcg (3000 IU) Vitamin D per day since March. Except when I was getting it from natural sunlight in the summer. Take it with fat. Milk, burger, milk chocolate, whatever has fat in it. I get mine from Wilko. Cheap! NHS recommend only 10 mcg (400 IU) per day Some top doctors from the states who have looked into this are taking 100-150 mcg (4000-6000 IU) per day. If pregnant seek your doctors advice. I you feel that taking this course of Vitamin D tablets helps you to steer clear of this virus, then keep taking the tablets.

If they were training in the morning or even late afternoon then they wouldn't be getting any from the sun, plus they are pretty much covered up, with only part of their arms and legs exposed and no doubt would of had sun screen on and possibly some sort of rub on their legs which is almost guaranteed to block the sun's UV rays. If you only had a pair of shorts on and nothing else it takes about 10 to 20 + (roughly) mins for white people in good sunlight between 11am to 3pm to get enough for the day, a few times a week. The darker the skin the longer it takes. With very dark skin and wearing kit it could take hours and still maybe not enough. Also we haven't had high UV levels or even much sun for some time.

You wont steer clear of it, you can still get it. Vitamin D helps in the recovery process. In short it stops your anti bodies from going into overload.

I wouldn't particular say he's better or worse. They're different players. What has annoyed me this season is that Judd hasn't been given a chance. We can all guess at the reasons why he hasn't been given a chance but in my view he's come in tonight played well and deserves to play on Saturday. Where's the other loan full back gone? Saturday may be too soon but the following Tuesday for sure. Play Jordon Thomas Saturday. From all accounts, Turley and Thomas are still getting over the virus.

Vitamin D is synthesised in the skin by a chemical reaction that needs sunlight (uv B) for the conversion of Vitamin D to its active form. It can’t therefore be washed of by a shower. Footballers of any skin colour will not generally be vitamin D deficient during Autumn months. And they may be in a small group of people who do not become deficient in the winter; because they spend much more time outside in weak winter sun with more flesh exposed than the rest of us. But I don’t want to detract from your wider point. Most people in this country will be deficient in vitamin D in the winter months, and this is increasingly linked to a range of adverse effects. And the darker your skin, the greater your risk. Sorry for taking this thread wildly off-topic 😞

Great to see Judd play well. It is scandalous that everyone, bar Ross and Timmo, can see he is miles better than Sam Ling. If Judd is not in the scheme of things if that's correct. The player IMO needs to push for a place apply himself to the max when he gets a chance to play. I think he has ability to play at a higher level. If he's not in future plans get his agent to find a club that does value him IMO.

Sooner he stayed with us osoldguy,we need all the talent we can get in the squad,especially as this odd season we will be playing two games a week.We are lucky we have a few players for that position,injurys and tiredness will play a great part.So if we double or more up in any position every one covers ,and everyone gets a game.

I never bothered going to the hospital to get it checked out but I tried to find out as much as I could about it. This years Covid has renewed my interest. I usually trust the NHS but in this case I don't go along with their recommendations, I seems to me that they haven't researched enough on the link between Vit D levels and Covid recovery. So I asked my doctor should I get some Vit D supplements, she said no. That was a couple of years ago. Maybe it's changed now. I know some people say you can't wash it off but I've read contrary to that from reputable sources. You can only get Vit D from the sun when it's at 45 degs or higher. The closer to midday (1 o'clock in UK) the better (weather permitting). From 22/23 September the sun is at too low a angle. The O's Medics would adhere to NHS protocol. I wonder if they even checked for Vit D levels. BTW: It was me who took this thread wildly off-topic. You're in the clear!
