Dear Grimsby Town FC,
Sorry to tell you this but having watched (some of) our effort away to Exeter yesterday and having recognised that the Grecians are a decent FL2 side, the clear and comparable difference puts us at about lower National league standard. With this in mind, we came to your ground some four days earlier and beat you whilst looking at least one league better than you as we did so. The logic of this, if there is any, is that you are gone! If you can lose to us, at home, with barely a goal attempt worth the name, there is no chance you will survive. Sorry about that.

Sounds like they put up a better fight against Forest Green yesterday but they did look very poor.
However no worse than Tranmere when we played them earlier in the season. And Southend.

It was more a commentary for our consumption. Yesterday was so bad. š

It was more a commentary for our consumption. Yesterday was so bad. š Especially taking into consideration that Exeter are not even in a play off place! š ( that may well change of course).

But as we all know, itās been a season like no other and teams can be poor one game and excellent the next. Exeter were the best team Iāve seen this year - if they played like that all the time they would be in an automatic promotion spot. We have been poor recently, and weāre shocking yesterday. But letās not over-react; the pressure for a playoff place is now off, and we can use the remaining 30% of the season to put us in a good place for next season.

I would love to have your optimism northeasto but in view of us having about four players contracted for next season, it looks like wholesale changes are to come and, in view of the "stability" comments made by almost everyone at the club, those two positions can't both be true. Either consistency/stability is key or freshening up the squad is the real deal. I also guess that T & T are seriously pee'd off after shelling out for the four good names we bought in recently in their attempt to "go for it". I doubt that Kent was all that enthusiastic about that decision.

JMD too. But overall more expense for sure. But for how long? Until May/June. So 4 or 5 months, thereafter they will effectively become replacements for leavers. So the real cost of āgoing for itā wonāt have been massive in the context of their current investment in the club. But more expense for sure. A positive move. I have little doubt that the Teague mentality is more geared towards positive calculated risk taking than being risk averse. If he feels anything it will be sadness that this calculated risk didnāt pan out. It happens.

Hmmm. Perhaps I'll adjust my thoughts in light of your comments.
