O.k. I only listened to the commentary and viewed the highlites but I just don’t see that Happe was to blame for the 2 extra time goals. both came from crosses from the right where the vale player was surrounded by orient players , but each time managed to get telling crosses in. terrible defending .

Well said 👋 I don't think he is as bad as many portray. I feel there's an unconscious bias against Happe and Clay who were here last season. That said about Happe, if Mitchell was available I wouldn't have been playing him. Mitchell and Ogie ahead of him on merit at the moment.

Orient fans seem to love ganging up on a player instead of encouraging and supporting him. Last season it was ling, now it’s Happe, who’s next ?. I nominate clay and drinnan.

Balance. That means praise when warranted, criticism when warranted. Happe has enjoyed his share of praise in the past, and rightly so. He was a great prospect and is still young. Though perhaps not developing as we hoped. Today he was poor. I’m happy to accept he may still be suffering from the groin strain. Mitigation.
But today he was poor, it cost us. I don’t see the point in glossing over that. He played due to others not being available. He pitched in when asked and credit for that.
Unconscious bias. With all due respect that is nonsense. I doubt you will ever find an Orient fan who would not be delighted with him being top draw, the club fighting off offers from the championship or prem. speculation about how much we may get. But that right now is simply not the case. I don’t believe, with a full squad, he is even first choice in the team.
Saying it as it is. Fair. Does anybody claim he had a good game today? Answers on the back of a postage stamp.

Happe should have booted the ball up the other end of the field but instead gave it away and two passes later they equalised 🤔🤔

Dan is such a frustrating player. On the ball he's fine, when challenging an attacker he's good too, but sometimes he seems to be standing in completely the wrong place. I can't see the highlights until the club put them up (SKY hides it from we forrins) so I'll have to wait to study why we let in three goals and should've let in five.

Didn't see the game yesterday. But as a general comment, Happe was poor last season in a poor defence. This season he has better players around him and his shortcomings are more conspicuous.

Happe was no better or worse than anyone else today. Ogie had a difficult time as well and Beckles got caught out on a number of occasions. Unfortunately - like after the Harrogate defeat- there are always overreactions when we lose. Saturday was very disappointing because if the lateness of the goals, but you have to look a bit wider than one man being the cause I think.

Unfortunately - like after the Harrogate defeat- there are always overreactions when we lose. Saturday was very disappointing because if the lateness of the goals, but you have to look a bit wider than one man being the cause I think. There has been no over-reaction to the defeat. None. Huge disappointment at how it happened but no over-reaction. In fact I doubt many are really surprised that we lost. Always going to be a tough game against an in-form team away from home. Listen to the Pratley interview. Was KJ over-reacting at half time when he gave the team a rollicking? Speaking your mind is not over-reaction. clubs have MOTM awards. Why? Because each game has the opportunity acknowledge one player who is outstanding. Likewise in every game there is the opportunity for one player to have a mare. This is not over-reaction but a simple fact. In both cases it’s a team game. But it is possible for players to have a great game or a poor game. Yesterday Woods had a good game, Happe a poor one. That’s just the way it was. Next week the roles could be reversed and I’m sure opinions will reflect that. No witch hunt, no scapegoating.

A poor player in a poor defence? Did I read that right? Wasn't that defence the one that kept 20/22 clean sheets? That's a good defence not a poor one. You need to look at what was wrong defending and keeping clean sheets was not one of them.

Hurts more when it is added time winners after being ahead.Happe delights and annoys in equal measures,as do most of the team when you reflect on a losing match. A few more like that to come no doubt.

In some people's opinion, Cissé was a midfield maestro.

Happe should have booted the ball up the other end of the field but instead gave it away and two passes later they equalised 🤔🤔 I think this is where a lot of the criticism has come from. He had plenty of time to deal with it, but instead gave it away and they equalised shortly after (Not seen the highlights so not sure if that's picked up on there). Vale then had their tales up and knew they could get a winner.

One of those annoying results if you lose in that way,but the delight if you win.It makes you want the next match to come around very quick.

I'm considering the possibility that Beckles is starting to try to cover for others' lapses and is screwing up his own performnces rather than just take care of his own obligations.

Defence this season vs last season?
Last season our defence was based around possession. If we had the ball, the opposition couldn’t score. And to be fair, many times it worked. But at times like this we need to remind ourselves just how mind-numbingly boring football was back then, despite some decent players and DJ’s early form, without which we would have been in deep trouble. Endless passing across the back followed by a Happe long ball to Wilkinson. Or LV to Wilkinson. We were so easy to play against. The opposition managers wet dream.
But player for player we are so much better now. James vs Ling. Woods vs Widdowson, Turley vs Beckles. Anybody going to suggest we have not improved. Didn’t think so. Add to that McNeil vs Akinola who has been a big plus and Ogie coming on a bundle. What’s not to like. We have wing backs who create, wow, that’s not been the case for a while.
Yesterday was just a bad day the office, as was Harrogate. Was a bad day for Happe. It happens, maybe he is still carrying an injury and with two players out, he chipped in when not 100%. On the plus side we scored two goals against a tight defence.
What matters now is the next away league game. We need to get back to winning ways. Otherwise it will be three league games without a win.

Who is McNeil ? Surely you meant Alex Mitchell ,the young defender that Os have on loan from Millwall ?

I think there were clear errors from multiple defensive players before the last goals. Many of these types of errors occurred in the first half as well. It was hard at times to figure out who had what responsibility in the back. The game tying goal looked to me like a planned play based on the Port Vale manager picking up on the marking mistakes or just a clever player picking up on the problem. KJ adjusted at the half, but so did the Port Vale manager and his team. The last few minutes were awful to watch, but understandable. Orient is still very good, but so is Port Vale.
