I've been really impressed by our start to the season but I can't help but feel we've not quite got out of second gear yet.
We've had quite a bit of stop starts, a few injuries, no real consistency either with results either albeit with only a couple of losses.
Was impressed with Smyth yesterday in his second half performance.
Hoping that a few things settle down now and we can crack on. Really believe we'll be a force.

Played well against Bradford, dominated second half. Think Bradford will be there or thereabouts at end of season. Orient have every chance of a top 3 spot, and don’t see them doing worse than play offs.

Sort of my point. We've hit some good form at good points and looked really sharp. I just don't think we've hit a period of consistency.

I think we're still growing into the season as a team. After 10 games I imagine we are more or less where KJ expected and that he is fairly satisfied.

Thought you asked "Do you think we've played well yet?"… … they have been a little inconsistent and perhaps a little unfortunate in last two games (the nailed on penalty not given v Mansfield and late collapse v Port Vale) which should have been 6 points, but was only 1. Only Harrogate was a poor result and performance otherwise performances have been 6/10 - 9/10 which should see Orient in the mix come the end of the season. I suspect Orient will get stronger and more consistent as season goes on. Have to remember, this is almost a new team compared to last season. I think if they can play like they did against Bradford and QPR in the second half in 70-80% of games, promotion is very likely.

Inconsistent for me,and if they don’t become more professional and know how to manage a game then they won’t get automatic promotion and will be lucky to make the playoffs. You can’t beat Bradford and Bristol one week but loose to Harrogate and draw at home against Mansfield another week. That was very unprofessional yesterday, no matter how you look at it,to let in two goals in a couple of minutes is as I say unprofessional, and unless Jacket can Instill better game management and concentration into the team it could ruin what promises to be a good and successful season 🙈

Orient have played well in games. Yes they need to manage games better, but they are 4th with a mostly new team. Judge them in May.

We are now a quarter of the the way through the season and have a fair idea of how the team will perform and it’s no good saying “early days” before you no it there will be 10/12 gap between us and 3rd.Take a look at FGR that’s consistent and that’s what we have to aim for. We have a good manager and coaching staff now and a set of players that are capable of promotion but putting it simply they have to be more professional,it’s as simple as that, however that’s only my opinion and others like yourself may not agree with me🙈

Fourth isnt bad after 10 games, but we need more nous, and we need more consistency, and we are still a player or two short IMO.
To be 2-1 up in the 90th min, and lose, shows unprofessionalism of the highest order. We should have just passed the ball around for five minutes.
I also believe we are a little short of quality up front. Drinnan just runs around a lot, without a great deal of quality. Whilst his effort looks commendable, he doesn't achieve that much. We need a little more quality in that position.
We are close to the finished article, but not quite finished enough for automatic promotion just yet

The result at the weekend and the performance against Harrogate do set certain alarm bells ringing, however Jacket is an experience manager with a wise old head and should be able to rectify the problem? But I do agree with you about the striking options,Drinan lacks composure in front of goal and that is what the team need IMO, football and football forums are about opinions and for me I would like to see two players playing up front and correct me if I’m wrong (and some will) but when they played two up front in a 442/532/352 formation they played well and got a good result. Yes I know it’s old fashioned but I feel Manager’s/coaches have to try and reinvent the wheel for some reason but if it works it works. Personally the two late goals on Saturday were virtually identical coming from a wide position and maybe if they were playing 442 they would have had more cover down the channels?🙈

I think there will be a number of teams in the mix next May. Right now just 2 points between 4th and 14th. Orient need to get 4-6 points from next 2 before playing Forest Green. The only teams they have lost to so far are 2nd and 3rd.

Have we played well - yes. Have we been inconsistent - absolutely, can we improve - beyond question.
What excites me about our current crop is they definitely have the potential to be a dynamic, exciting team capable of great results, home and away. And we have a manager clearly capable of creating a style of play that maximises the skills of the players we have.
We have the ability to beat anybody and everybody in League two in my opinion. The big question is will we.

As long as all the players have a lot of trust in all of their team-mates to do the job they are assigned to do. If the group believe there to be one or more people who are not really up to it, the whole group will splutter.

Suggests to me their 3 goals were not the result of brilliant unstoppable play. But defensive lapses. Mind you, James goal was down to the same.

We do look a strong side despite a few lapses. Some of our forward play is excellent,as is our defending.Polish up on the bits in between and we have the makings.
