It only lasted eleven minutes and Captain Kirk’s ongoing gushing monologue about it to Jeff Bezos has gone on much longer and is truly cringeworthy.

It's sad when a man has more money than most countries that he can spend his loose change on a space programme sending degenerates into space for what can only be his own amusement and not for science.

Perhaps of more use would have been to visit the Moon, or (oops, Burbank Studios in California if the conspiracy theorists are to be believed) to pick up any debris left from the moon walk.

Not so,riches to be made mining the moon. Why do you think a lot of countries are sending probes to the surface.

Yes you could be correct but priorities must be on Earth for the foreseeable future.

Yes you could be correct but priorities must be on Earth for the foreseeable future. Sky news reporting by one flight of this mega rich and powerful people has contributed so many tonnes of Co2 to the atmosphere and by the emission gases from the propolsion unit has weakened the earth's ozone layer further. A win win situation not. Oh well they will probably have another Global warming conference in some far reached Global location flying in gas guzzling exclusive jets away from the motley masses. Wringing their hands over the little people's demise while guzzling large amounts of alcohol, eating large amounts of exotic food and then complaning that service to the Dining table was slow by the Little people.

There has been so many good things in the world born out of exploring outer space. The point I am making is that the only reason you send William shatner up into space is for his own amusement. It'd not done for any other reason. He thought to himself wouldn't if be funny to have the guy from star trek in space.... And threw a few million at it. He should of sent scientists etc and people who could actually do some actual use. If he sent one of those up there then fair enough. It was done for publicity and for a laugh. No other reason for it.

How many jobs has he created? How many people eating, buying homes and cars, bringing up children thanks to what these rich people do. Don’t knock them, rejoice that there are people with the ideas, brains, drive, courage to do big things. if there wasn’t we wouldn’t be going into space, just into our caves.

Correct me if I am wrong but I haven't knocked the fact that he has created jobs. There is nothing wrong with entrepreneurs. You would be pretty silly to say there was. We don't live in a communist state. But answer me this if you will... What has sending captain kirk into space actually achieved? Do you really think he thought that's a good move. Or do you think that he chuckled to himself when he had a spare seat on his shuttle and thought aahh the irony... There is probably a million people more suited to taking that seat than William shatner but he did it for his own amusement and the publicity its that simple and that's what's wrong with this man.
