But it's not the end of the World. So on a positive vibe.. We've lost two matches all season. Against the 2nd and 3rd place teams. We've got a goal difference of +8. This is only bettered by... the 1st and 2nd place teams. We've only conceded 11 goals. Bettered only by.. you guessed it 1st place and randomly Tranmere. We've scored 19 goals, bettered only by.. the top two teams.. So while i'm peeed of about not having a shot on target today and now going 4 games without a win, fundamentally we aren't doing bad at all. Using my own stats i have us down as the 3rd best team in this division. Behind Forest Green and Harrogate. Football Webpages have us finishing 2nd - www.footballwebpages.co.uk/league-two/league-table/predictedI stand by my judgement. We're a good team but just out of form. While we're out of form as long as we're drawing and not losing i'll be happy.

I judge a team by how many points we have. All else is interesting but secondary. 4 games without a win. 3 points from the last 12. Hardly the stuff to get excited about. We couldn’t put away Mansfield, they gave us a close game. They are not too 2.
Over the last 4 games we have not looked anything special. 0 shots on target today. I remember that happened under Ross and he got ripped apart.
The honeymoon is over. Time for the team to show they are better than mid-table. Tuesday has become really important. We need a win, any sort of win.

Exactly my point. If you're judging a team on the points they have. Then we are 3 points off of 2nd place.
We're not doing bad at all but I agree, we could be and in my opinion, should be doing better.
But we are only 3 points off of 2nd place.

I'm pretty buoyant. We're in a bad patch is all.

Agreed to most of this,if you can’t beat teams like Mansfield,Walsall and Barrow then to me the writing is on the wall, mid table beckons, not bringing in a proven scorer and a creative midfielder at the beginning of the season is going to cost this team, which is a shame because the board have put a lot of effort into the club🙈

I’m sure we all saw the Kent Teague tweet about the performance dip. He was at the game today along with Nigel Travis and a new owner or two. No one wants micromanagement by the business side and I’m certain that won’t happen. We watched KJ improve the defense today. I’m sure there will be a focus by all relevant parties on very aggressive forward play. I’d be surprised if the offense doesn’t improve. Hopefully by Tuesday.

We now have options up front. Drinan-Smith-Smyth to start on Tuesday. None of which are proven goal scorers unfortunately, it’s no good have good wingers ( Archibald and Smyth)in the side and nobody to give the ball to. Like I’ve been saying Smith can’t do it alone,he has to have someone up there with him. Football at a professional level is kind of follow my leader. If Man City,Liverpool or Chelsea play a certain way the others tend to follow, even England have tried playing that way and failed badly the other night. Coaches want to re invent the wheel for some reason and justify there position in a club. Tell me if I’m wrong but we played two up front and won comfortably and yet the very next game played only one without success. If your going to play direct then play a formation that’s suits that style and put another forward up front. If your going down the passing route then play an extra midfielder but don’t get caught in the middle of the two.🙈

All our forwards are capable of scoring. I’m less concerned about the proven goal scorer thing than I was at the start.
But what is happening is what happened when we had DJ, only sooner. We need to create chances, if we do we have sufficient quality to put them away. I rate Smith more highly than DJ. Definitely would not swap. DJ stopped scoring when teams realised his potential in the team. Smith after a bright start has managed the odd feeble long range effort and the overhead yesterday. He is nullified. Starting to show the same frustration we saw from DJ.
What’s happened to the balls into the box from wide areas? Replaced with endless long balls down the middle to Smithy-no-mates who even if he wins the header it creates naff all. Happes long cross field balls replaced by defensive long punts up the middle. What the feck is the midfield for. What the feck are our wing backs doing. The answer is watch endless long balls sail over their heads most of the time.
I have no problems with our set up. In fact I quite like it. KJ has it spot on. And with James and Wood we have players capable of exploiting that system. But in Pratley, Clay, Hector we don’t have the central midfielders to maximise the benefits of that system. Hector in particular is going backwards. So we end up with punts from the back three. I assume that’s why we brought in what’s his name , the injured one.
So long wait for Smyth, long wait for What’s his name, more jam tomorrow comments. In the meantime with just continue to be outplayed by supposedly poorer teams.

The hysteria on this forum in the last week or so has surprised me. I think you have to take some comments ( not necessarily on this thread!) with a pinch of salt - they have clearly been inserted in order to provoke a reaction. Of course, the last four results have been disappointing and our next win can’t come soon enough but we’re still in touch with the promotion places and we’re not losing many games. Bringing in a manager with KJ’s experience and track record was always going to increase fan expectations- despite any assertions to the contrary. Tuesday night will be significant but not season defining - one way or the other! The Board have made a substantial commitment and I’m sure recognise that the current bad patch can be worked through given the people they have in charge.👍

I get your frustration Doh, but I'm pretty certain KJ doesn't want Smith isolated, he wants Smyth/Archibald/Drinan, whoever makes up the front three, to move infield to support the centre forward, when the ball is being played long, and the wingbacks James/Wood to then provide the wide support.
Trouble is the opposition also know that is going to happen, there are very few teams out of their depth in this league IMO, so their defence will be looking to stop us doing this successfully.
What I would like to see is KJ moving from two defensive midfielders Pratley/Kyprianou/Clay and play Kemp or presumably the man with no name alongside, with the message to get forward to support the front three and pick up the ball outside of the box when it is cleared.
Thought we looked more threatening when Kemp came on Saturday, but the downside of course is we might be caught out more often on the counter.

Tuesday Will do nicely. But our position in the table doesn’t detract from the fact that we have dropped 9 points in 4 games, points that would have significantly improved our position in the table and ultimately our chances of playoffs and promotion. Heads in sand helps nobody. Teague made his feelings known. This has been a damaging run. We will only know come the end of the season how defining it was. Let’s hope it turns out to have made no difference at all. But for sure it needs to end and we need to start winning, season on season we haven’t improved and KJ, results wise, is not delivering much more than Ross. Despite that investment. That has to improve and no glossing over the cracks changes that. The team and too many of the players are going backwards. We need to start winning. I don’t want us on Tuesday to have won 3 from 15 points.

I think there is a significant difference between “ having heads in the sand” and taking a reasoned stance over what has been a run of four winless games tbh! My own view is that KJ is delivering more than Ross although of course results are always the final arbiter. The Board - I think - will give time for the investment they’ve made to bear fruit. I’d be interested to hear your views on what the viable alternatives are at this stage if after Tuesday night we have won 3 from 15 points?
