Wood looks a reasonable LB but is no wing-back on yesterday's showing. Not surprised he only got half a game.
Happe is going to have to come up with something if he will ever dislodge Mitchell, Ogie or Beckles. Thompson may also prove himself one day. Dan needs to re-think his centre-back mentality and perhaps challenge for Wood's position. he seems to have the on-the-ball skills and would be useful as an extra attacker from time to time.
Pratley has all the "old head" attributes to be a skipper but his ball control is lacking and his passing is less aggressive than we need a mid-fielder's to be. His starting place is no longer a 'gimme'.
Clay is what he is, a useful guy to have around to add a bit of steel and grit but he's not going to be a first team FL2 starter unless injuries and suspensions dictate. He'll give his heart and soul but his athleticism and pace are fading.
Kyprianou is still young but he wouldn't currently get into the Walsall side we saw yesterday not the recent Port Vale team. He shouldn't be in our team either if we really want to finish top. Not yet anyway.
Sotiriou deserved his chance having accepted the Jackett mental attitude to doing the business like a pro. Sadly, like so many before him, he couldn't take the chance he'd won for himself. Will he ever? Walsall brought on Wilkinson, who would we rather have?
Drinan has something about him but lacks the threat of Archibald, he needs to find it.
Jackett must decide why our midfield gets overrun and why they almost never have an outlet when in possession. Lobbing it up to Smith is a reasonable tactic on the odd occasion but looking at the goals scored by Drinan and Archibald (even Smith a couple of times) in the early games, nearly all came from attacks at high pace. Playing Crawley reserves, a dysfunctional Bristol Rovers and a poor Bradford side seems to have led us into believing we can overcome the average FL2 team, we can't, nowhere near it. Walsall are average, look what they did to us!

So sounds like we more or less need a whole new team plus a new manager, an ever recurring theme at Leyton Orient !

Maybe not grim but there are performance/ability issues to be addressed. For example, Drinan is a real danger if he gets a through ball into a channel where he can use his strength and pace to make something happen. If he has his back to goal all the time (like we used DJ last season) then he won't be able to contribute much. Those through balls are not coming because either (A) Drinan is not positioning himself to be able to make the run, or (B) he is making runs but the passes are just not coming from midfield players. Archibald has been suffering a bit of that too although he always seems to be double marked of late. If I compare Joss Labadie, who was everywhere and very skilled on and off the ball, with Pratley, Kyprianou and Clay. Labadie contributed far more. I don't know why that is but it needs to be sorted out in short shrift if we are to maintain a challenge near the top. Like everyone else, I am great supporter of KJ.

Walsall are average, look what they did to us! We can only play who is put in front of us. Having watched all games I'd say Walsall are far from average so I'm not sure what you're basing them being average on. If it's league position then we've beaten above average teams in Exeter, Bradford, Crawley, Bristol Rovers. So the argument doesn't really add up. The fact in all of this is that we've only lost two games. Against 2nd and 3rd in the league. If they are the best teams in the league judged on position then we're doing well as a collective. I still maintain that we're yet to have a good 90 minute performance. Yet we're still up there. And by my reckoning we're massively out of form with only James and Ogie currently performing above their season averages. Basically we're out of form and not getting beat. There are worse situations to be in.

on the positive side, I think the back three of Mitchell, Beccles and Ogie is very decent for this league. If Thompson regains his fitness, then potentially the back three are even stronger.
Defensive midfielders. Pratley has been a bit of a disapointment for me, does the dark arts stuff well, but I thought he'd be more dominant. Think Kyprianou needs to be given more of a licence to support the front three, or you go 3-5-2 and play Kemp in front of those two.
Up front I'm very happy with our three strikers and Smyth looks a handful and like Archibald has attitude, so I don't think most defences will keep us quiet for long.
We still haven't fielded our best team from the start as yet, so I'm confident things will improve.

The captain needs to raise his game a tad.
